My husband, 2 dogs and I have just returned from spending 2 weeks at this lovely home. It was immaculate and very well equipped. Furnishings are tasteful and comfortable, the art unique and interesting, and the location perfect. Although the water is not within view, you are close enough to the harbor to hear the ferry horn on a still night.
Everything in the house is top quality -- in fact it was such a pleasure to cook in this kitchen (and seafood, fresh vegetables and baked goods so plentiful and reasonably priced on MV) that we didn't go out to eat at all, although a few nights we did bring in cooked lobsters from the nearby fish market. But had we wanted to go out for meals, there were many good restaurants within easy walking distance.
If you like to walk, the location could not be better. We walked with the dogs for hours every day, rarely taking the same route twice. Roads in the neighborhood are quiet and many have sidewalks. It was about a 15-minute walk to town, Black Dog, and the harbor, 5 minutes to Little Owen Beach, half hour to Lake Tashmoo and Vineyard Sound beaches. Also easy walks: the neighborhood flower farm, around West Chop past the lighthouse, and through the West Chop woods. And if the walking wasn't enough exercise for the dogs they could run around the large, safely enclosed yard, and even get showered off in the big outdoor enclosed shower.
The two living areas make this house a perfect setup for several couples or a large family. Wireless internet was fast with a strong signal throughout the house and on the deck. Lighting was bright for reading, TVs had plenty of cable channels, and best of all, the neighborhood turkey flock made us laugh even on the rainy days!
The owners were easy to communicate with, helpful and hospitable. We look forward to renting their home again next year.
