Look can be deceiving!

When we first open the door, everyone thought it was a beautiful place. So we took our shoes off to prevent damaging the floor. It didn't take us long before we realized how dirty the place really is.
Pro: Nice owner. We had a problem with the outlet for the fridge on our first night. We called the owner and she sent a guy right away. Very short drive to the casino. Also very short walk to the uneventful boardwalk that the locals goes to, semi quiet neighborhood, big enough house to accomodate a large group, upgraded appliance but not well taken care of. Great presentation of the house arrangement though.
Con: I am not sure why the owner charge a cleaning fee? THis place was DIRTY, unmaintained. The first day we were there, we didn't even finish walking through the house before all of our feet turned black from the dirty floor. A few minutes later, some guy came knocking on the door and ask if we would like him to mow the grass. The sheets and the blankets on the beds smelled like it had never been washed. one of the closet on the first floor bedroom has a bunch of old dirty stained pillows. I found undried sheets in the dryer because the lint collector was so thick. The towels in the laundry area were folded but they all smelled like mildew and the nasty smell of towels that sat in the washer too long and not very many towels. The pull out sofa bed in the dining area has no support. We were not able to use it for sleeping. We found dirty baking pan in the oven and uncleaned plates in the cupboard. Alot of things in the kitchen were dirty and very lack of. The can opener was all rusted. The beach is not that close and you can only see the ocean from on window of the house. The broom and mop were locked in a closet. I spent my first evening there wiping the floor of the entire house with an old towel and washing all the sheets and blankets so that my family have something clean during our stay.
In general, the house can be a very nice and relaxing place if it was well kept. The pictures shown here must have taken when the place was brand new. If you plan to stay here, bring everything except your kitchen sink. I believe that if you are going to charge someone a cleaning fee, at least use it to hire a professional to clean the place. I was quite disappointed.
Owner's Response: Two months ago i changed my cleaning company and i do not live in Atlantic City.I can not check the house after every cleaning.I have not had this kind of problem for years.I am really surprised why this person did not tell me about the condition of the house the same day when she checked in the house.We spoke so many times over the phone i could have called the cleaning company the same day to come and clean the house if it was dirty like you said.After your stay i had no way of showing the cleaning crew the condition of the house.The beach is less then a block away from the house on the bay.
