Notes: There are private nature trails along the shore that will take you to the seal colony and ocean. These are deer trails and are not suitable for very small children, unchaperoned pre-adolescents or infirm adults. There are three sandy beaches within a ten minute drive. There is a fresh water beach and picnic area located at a provincial park about 15 minutes away. There are several good places to fish nearby. Petit Passage Whale Watching is literally minutes away. The cafe has great chowder and fresh seafood. Brier Island Nature preserve is nearby Balance Rock nature trail is very close by as well. The historic towns of Digby, Annapolis Royal, and Yarmouth are short day-trips featuring public gardens, restaurants and shops. The owners have prepared an updated three ring binder of brochures and menus for renters use.

Review from Dee Sordillo in MA: I've re-read my journal - and my memory and my recorded word match. Both my husband and I were speechless on first seeing the location. We arrived in the dead of night and found the rooms warm and very welcoming, immaculate and every comfort item covered. But - the best awaited til morning. The spectacular view takes your breath away Every morning the same vantage point gives a totally different view and feel. My pictures cannot express the beauty. A Thanksgiving weekend to remember

What an amazing thanksgiving weekend we had at this beautiful home in East Ferry. The weather was wonderful - crisp and sunny, sun sparkling on the churning ocean waters below us. We had a great trip on Sunday exploring on Brier Island. The kitchen was fabulous…and we used it well….lots of great wining and dining. We went through a fair amount of firewood as the fireplace was always blazing away keeping us cozy.

The house was the perfect configuration for our extended family. The kids went crazy when they saw their room (over the garage with the two beds). My daughter (age 5) asked if we could move there and all live together.

Probably the most special part of the weekend was making the short walk from the house to see the seal colony. We found them, on Monday morning, bathing in the sun on their rocks….counted somewhere near 50 and they were singing away in haunting howling voices. My 3 year old son said they sounded like sea ghosts….and that was exactly right. We sat on the point in the sun and watched them for a long time. One of those “memorize this moment” kind of mornings.

So….from our whole clan, a tremendous thank-you. It was one of the best thanksgiving weekends we have ever had and we’ll remember it always. (My pictures of the weekend are stunning….I should send you a few!)

We hope to be back!

Fantastic Nova Scotia Experience

If you are looking for a beautiful house, great views, a quiet location and lots of room, this is the place. The house was much larger than we imagined even from the description. It is fairly new and seems well maintained. There were only three of us there for the week, so we had plenty of room.
The location is inside a locked gate which makes it a bit more secure. There is a nice hiking trail nearby that takes you to a point overlooking the rocks where the seals sun themselves. The location is a bit of a drive from Digby (nearest grocery store), so you want to plan ahead if you are going to cook for yourself. Otherwise, there are several very nice restaurants both in Digby and at the ferry crossing at East Ferry.
We had a fantastic time exploring Digby Neck, Long Island and Brier Island. We also used the house as a base for easy day trips to Annapolis Royale and Yarmouth. If you just want to sit on the deck and watch Petit Passage, there seems to always be something going on. Be sure to pick at least one clear, dark night, turn off all the lights and sit awhile on the deck watching the stars. It is amazing how the sky looks without light pollution.
We highly recommend this property to all who want to explore the Digby area of Nova Scotia and / or just get away from it all and relax and enjoy a fantastic location.

Chris,       Our week in Nova Scotia couldn't have been better. My family truely enjoyed your home. Very comfortable, roomy and well appointed. The location is perfect for anyone who wants to get away from it all. We saw plenty of wildlife from the deck and was awarded with beautiful sunsets to close the days. Thank-you!

Unforgetable week on Digby Neck

We came in July 2009 with a large group (13 people - 6 adults, 7 children) for a week.
What a truly marvelous experience it was! We left our mobile phones, computers, television and cares behind. Each day brought some fog, a bit of rain, a lttle sun, and an abundance of adventiure! We saw seals, porpoises, and deer. The whales were a short boat ride away and beaches and nature walks a short car trip.
The house is large but feels bigger - 13 fit easily. More importantly, it feels like a home. There are lots of convenience and amneities, but it still feels comfy and close.
A wonderful place, a wonderful experience - we recommend it highly!

Excellent quiet family vacation - fantastic house

Our family from Grandparents to a 2 and 1 year old had a awesome (to quote the teenagers) vacation - lots of wildlife - eagles, seals, deer. Lake MIdway is a great place to swim and picnic - under an hour to Clements Park. House and scenery are beautiful.
