I rented this home (and it felt like home) the first week in August 2009. My husband and I had a wonderful week. Along with our Lab. I'm pretty sure she thought we planned this perfect vacation for her. She loved the lake & it was hilarious watching her put her entire head in the water (she's not used to such a clear lake) when looking for her stick. We got to connect with some friends we haven't seen in a while. They came over and spent a day. My son and my father (83 years old), came up for a few days, also. This home was wonderful, beautiful location, the pontoon was very nice. All we had to do was enjoy!!

Peaceful Northwoods Retreat

We rented Serenity House in August of 2010. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place for you. A great place to unwind and rejuvenate. The cabin was immaculate when we got there. (The housekeeper should be commended.) Just about everything was provided for a comfy stay. The restaurants and taverns around Land O' Lakes have great food! Bent's Camp is a must see. We drove up into the U.P. a couple of days. Really nice to drive up there for a day trip or two. The town of Land O' Lakes itself is a beautiful old fashioned 'up north' little town. Little Portage Lake was very calm and peaceful while we were there. It is a smaller lake so there is not much action on it, so if that is what you are looking for this is not the place for you. We just enjoyed having a couple of beers on the deck and watching the eagles and the osprey fly overhead. But the call of the loon was THE BEST thing to hear and we did hear it!! I would like to thank Bill & Ellen for being so gracious and sharing their Northwoods Home with us. They were very helpful with any questions we had prior to our week. We have been to Vilas County many times, but this was our first time in the Land O' Lakes area and we definitely plan a return trip. The Fall season must be stunning! Serenity House is a real gem regardless of what season you choose to stay there....

The listing description was everything it claimed. The cottage clean, well stocked with linens, towels, shampoo, soap, kitchen utinsels etc. Our group of 6 women appreciated the roomy dining area where we played games and ate meals. The single bathroom was not an inconvenience. The deck was a favorite gathering spot for morning coffee and conversation. We enjoyed a delicious meal at Lanny's supper club on Hwy 45 (Conover) Great quilt shop in Hazelhurst on Hwy 51. We immediately booked Serenity House for next year.

Serenity House is First Rate

I recently spent 4 nights at Serenity house with just one of my dogs, and would highly recommend it. It's on a nice, quiet, pretty lake--a very relaxing setting. Lucy and I spent a lot of time on the double-tiered deck, and made good use of the sunflower seeds and corn to feed the critters. The house is small but very comfortable, and the kitchen is well stocked. It was clean and tidy, well maintained, and just as described by the owners. We also made good use of the pontoon boat, and caught quite a few fish, even though I wasn't really working at it. I would definitely stay here again.

Northwoods vacation

The home was absolutely beautiful...clean, well stocked, nice touches. Enjoyed the treats left for feeding the birds, squirrels and chipmunks. Deck was gorgeous with lovely view of the lake. Fully stocked wood pile for peaceful bonfires. Can't say enough about the wonderful experience. Would be a pleasure to stay again.
