You’ll love your choices for relaxation and enjoyment throughout this thoroughly modern home with 18th century walls. In the living room you’ll find overstuffed sofas and chairs, a hand-built fireplace, and thick, warmly colored walls. In the dining room you may gather for meals at a round parquet-topped table. The brightly tiled kitchen is ready for cooking or for being served. A winding path from the entrance foyer leads through a bamboo grove to a stone patio under the spreading pomegranate tree, by a sprinkling tile and stone fountain.   • The master bedroom has French doors leading to a plant-screened terrace, with a king-size bed, a walk-in closet, and tiled bath and shower. The fully tiled deep tub easily fits two – just light the candles and relax! The rear bedroom has twin beds, step-out balcony windows overlooking the pomegranate tree, a walk-in closet, and tiled bath and shower. The house, Casa del Granado, takes its name from this tree. Both bedrooms have private stairways to joining rooftop terraces with extraordinary views of the Parroquia and town, lake, mountains, and sunsets. Lie in the sun on chaise lounges or sit in shade under the tiled veranda set atop four cantera columns. The sleeper study (sun room) off the outdoor sala features a twin trundle bed along with desk, half bath, desk, TV/DVD, and views of the patio and fountain. Another half bath is found by the entrance foyer.

The home was designed by Eliazar Torres to combine 18th century charm with 21st century convenience; professionally decorated by Carl Selph to delight the senses; plantscaped by Tim Wachter to create an oasis of rest and calm. This home is in the best area of town, near the residence of Antonio Banderas, close to buses and within short walks to everything, only three blocks from the Jardin. There is parking on the street and a supervised facility is close by. Lucy, the maid, comes to clean and change the linens. She can also cook for you. The property is also professionally managed by an English speaking manager who is always on call in case you have any problems. Susan Page, noted author, San Miguel resident, and founder of the SMA Authors' Sala, calls this house one of her top five favorites in town!

Here's a poem a guest wrote: The omnipresent tinkling, sprinkling, splashing sound of water The glittering visitation of humming birds and colorful relatives The flittering dance of monarchs on their northward journey The amazing vista from the terrace The heat of the sun The delight of the breeze The coolness of the courtyard and sala The cooing of the doves The awesome colors of the ever different sunsets with their turquoises, reds, oranges, pinks, mauves, purples, lavender The earth tones of terra cotta, ochre, and yellow of rough walls The old, low doorways and modern décor All work to make a retreat spent at Casa del Granado into a treat to be treasured

We adored your beautiful home. It was by far the
best equipped house we have ever rented. You
must have had fun decorating - it was so pretty. We
loved the ancient feel with all of the modern
conveniences. The 2nd story patio was used daily
and most days the rooftop. We were careful and
got used to the stairs. It is a lovely location! Your
maid was delightful. We can't think of anything we
wished for. We always appreciate it when there are
a few spices and salt and pepper so we don't have
to buy basics like that. You can use us for a
reference anytime. Probably coming back next
year!

We just got back from Mexico. Your house is a
beautiful job of restoration. We had a lovely stay
and particularly enjoyed the view of the city from
the top terrace. We encountered a few irritants that
detracted from our experience which were minor
problems, but avoidable. Overall, the house is
lovely and tasteful and a lot of care has gone into
making it so.
Owner's Response: Our guests sometimes see things that need fixing before we do and we welcome their suggestions. We then direct our property management company to make it right.

Just back from a delightful month at 12 Montes de
Oca. Everything went very well indeed, other than
the Vonage telephone that allowed me four calls
and then collapsed. Still, we continued to enjoy the
beauty, peace and delight available for us. Lucy was
great. We are refreshed, relaxed and certainly fitter
than when we left. Thank you for renting us your
lovely house.
