Cagnes-sur-Mer Vacation Rental villa: Cagnes-sur-Mer

My husband and I have stayed in Nicole's villa for two years running.

We loved it so much in 2008 that we returned in 2009.

I love the location of the villa, as it is very peaceful and quiet. The views from the terrace are lovely especially when fireworks are being let off at the coast in the evening.

The facilities are excellent and Nicole had made some apricot jam from the tree in her garden, which my husband thoroughly enjoyed eating.

The villa is spotlessly clean and it is like staying in a friend's house, as there are some lovely personal touches, nothing like a normal, rather stark holiday rental. The bedlinen is especially pretty and lovely and fresh.

I think it is necessary to have a hire car to visit the old town and the restaurants at the sea front. It is easy to walk to the bakers in the morning, but a larger amount of shopping requires a car.

The walk up the road to the villa is quite steep, so anyone who had difficulty in walking may find it a struggle. Also, there are steps in the garden to climb to get to the villa and terrace.

The pool is lovely and, again, Nicole keeps it very clean. Also, she is on hand if necessary.

There is everything you need in the villa, all of which is very good quality and, whilst we did not use it, there is a fabulous barbeque.

Cagnes sur Mer has some very good restaurants from expensive to reasonably priced. We eat a number of times in the old town which was very nice, especially as this year there was a jazz festival and there were a couple of jazz concerts taking place whilst we sat and enjoyed our meal.

Again, the restaurants by the sea are very nice and Cagnes sur Mer is not touristy, which we particularly like!

With the use of a car St. Paul de Vence is close by which is worth a visit both to eat and to walk around.

The villa is the ideal place for a peaceful, relaxing holiday with all the facilities you could want, as well as lovely, friendly owner.

We stayed at Nicoles villa in August and it has everything you need. Nicole is very helpful and when the gas ran out on the bbq her daughter spent most of the day finding us another bottle. The description of the property is good but could do with a slightly better translation, as there is air conditioning in the main part of the house next to the pool but in the lower part, where the twin room is located, there are only ceiling fans, this was fine even when the weather was very hot. Also it does not mention the lower part of the property has a small kitchen and is quite seperate to the upper part only joined by the steps to the main gate, great if you have older children as they can do their own thing. The pool is big enough and is secure if you have very young kids. The property is clean and well maintained.
If you do not have a car the bus stop is not that far away, and for 1 euro you can travel upto 74 minutes for as long as you do not change buses, only downside is there is a very and I say very steep hill back up to the property.
Cagnes is very central to everything and we would recommend going to the castle on the free bus from the bus station, lots of good eating establishments, also other places to see are Vence, Eza , Ville Franche and Antibe espeacialy if you like markets or medieviel settings, just checkout Nicoles list in the villa.
Things to remember is that almost everything closes between 12 and 3 except bars and restarants. If you are feeling like an early start go to the small inside market in cagnes looks a bit shabby but has great meat veg and seafood at reasonable prices for the area. opens 7am till 1pm except sunday and monday.
We went to Nice for the day but I would advice going early as parking is a nightmare, We also went to Monoco/Monte carlo, by train, very good return fare, but Monco very expensive. I would recommend Nicoles Villa to anyone and say it is a first class accomadation.

Our stay at this villa was great. The owner was very friendly, she baked us a cake and brought us home-made apricot-jam, and the view was very beautiful! Our children loved the pool with colored lights at night, and the adults found the house to be very good. The only thing was that there was no air-condition in the little apartement, only a fan and that the bath-room there was a bit small. But the rest of the house was excellent! The walk to restaurants and shops took us 10 minutes. We had a wonderful stay and really recommend this villa!
