Overview

Lake Placid Chalet Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1 bath, sleeps 6

The '46er', named for those that have mastered the highest peaks in the Adirondacks, keeps with the tradition of 46ers.

She is well equipped, well oriented and surrounded by beauty, leaving you never wanting to return home.

Unlike just another impersonal rental property, you'll find the warmth and comfort of home with soft cushy towels, down pillows and comforters.

The chalet is completely remodeled with hard wood floors, skylights, new kitchen and bathroom.

The chalet is nestled on a hillside facing Whiteface and Stephenson Ranges. Whiteface Olympic Mountain, which is only two miles away and offers the ultimate in winter sports! It was voted the Best Ski Center in the North East!

Lake Placid Village with all that it has to offer is just ten beautiful miles away on the most picturesque road of the Adirondacks. Here you can enjoy shopping, dining, arts and crafts, museums, The Olympic Center, golf, horse shows, movies, festivals, nightlife ... or 'in short' - hustle and bustle of this special, lively Olympic Village.

When your spirit moves you beyond the chalet, so much awaits!

First you'll encounter the large, wrap around deck which sports Adirondacks chairs and an outdoor dining area, and sometimes chickadees that will eat from your hands. You may not get much further for awhile. Many guests fall into the hammock for a snooze or fire up the grill to cook the trout they caught. The hot tub invites you for that romantic or relaxing dip after the day on the mountain. In the evening, there is the stone ring campfire for all the stories of the day.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Beautiful getaway from NYC and busy working life. The house provided us with absolutely everything we needed and we felt very comfortable from the very first moment we came here. Being big nature lovers, you can't but fall in love with the Adirondacks and this beautiful house gave us more than we were looking for when it comes to the Adirondack experience.

We would like to thank Renata for everything and will highly recommend this place for our friends as well as we are sure that we’ll be back here

Amazing Adirondack Hideaway!

  • 5 of 5

My fiancée and I decided we needed a vacation. I was tasked with finding a perfect one-week getaway and The 46'er is definitely it. The cabin is fully stocked with everything you would want for a peaceful romantic retreat in the Adirondacks. Renata and Charly have done an amazing job of stocking this retreat with all the little touches that make it feel as one is coming home to their own magical retreat. Every drawer and nook held another wonderful surprise that made our trip just that more perfect. It is clearly evident that the owners love this cabin as much as their guests. They have left no detail unchecked with property and they were both excited and happy to offer advice on what to do in the local area. For a first time visitor to the Adirondacks, their vast knowledge and willingness to share was invaluable. We went hiking every morning out the back yard on miles of trails that surround the property. For a wonderful early morning view of Whiteface, We highly recommend hiking to a small clearing up a 4-wheeler track out the back yard. We grilled almost every night and enjoyed much needed relaxing soaks in the hot tub on the tranquil privacy of the wrap-around deck. It was a spectacular feeling to relax and simply gaze at the pitch-black country sky full of stars one will never see in the city. A rainy day meant chili in our crock-pot and Casablanca on the TV (thanks to their wonderful movie selection). A second rainy day was no worse. We simply enjoyed the peaceful silence that comes from no outside distractions. The pitter-patter of raindrops on the roof recalled a simpler time while we relaxed on the couch each with a good book. No annoying cell phone calls, no intrusive Internet, no loud neighbors, just the wonderful luxury that is peace and quiet. We loved reading books from their diverse selection, hiking with our Scottish Terrier, canoeing on a nearby lake, shopping in Lake Placid, and wine tasting at some of the local wineries. Dinner at The Hungry Trout was a wonderful experience. Hiking at the nearby Wilmington Flume and up Whiteface was just as fun. The best part of the trip was being able to bring our Scottie. He loved chasing the numerous squirrels and chipmunks that inhabit the property and we loved not having to worry about him in a kennel for the week. It was great to have our entire family (man, woman and Scottie) together on vacation. It truly was Heaven on Earth. We are already planning our next trip!

Lake Placid Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time! It was wonderful to be able to bring our dogs, they had a blast and adjusted to the cabin immediately. The cabin is adorable and makes you feel so at home. The hot tub was so enjoyable and warm in the below zero temps. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a relaxing time with family or friends. Its so quiet and peacful and the town of Lake Placid offers SO many great things to do. The owners were fabulous and so communicative. We will be back very soon! :)

Bitter Experience!!!

  • 1 of 5

My girlfriend and I rented this property for three days. For the price, we were a bit disappointed, but our problem wasn't in the house. Everything was fine until 16 days after we came back, we found out that the owner decided ,without notifying us to take the money out of our down deposit and get the kitchen faucet , for she said it was broken at the time we rented the house. The kitchen faucet was worn out from the years of usage. It didn't work properly when we came in and during our stay it was less and less functional. It was obviously from the years of usage, not from force breaking. We left the house spotless and clean and wrote down that the faucet is not working properly and needs to be fixed. Without even a slight doubt that we'll be blamed for breaking the faucet, I was expecting my down deposit back, but after waiting for 16 days I emailed Renata to ask her about getting our deposit back and then finally found out about her decision to buy a new $176.15 faucet for the house out of our down deposit money and send us back $23.85. So, if you rent this house, be prepared for this type of stuff.

At the end our experience with this house is very bitter, for we feel cheated and charged for damaging the property, which we never did.

Owner's Response: I am very, very sorry to read this! I do believe that our decision was made with respect and fairness to all parties involved. In both our Check-In Document as well as our confirmation email we state in Bold: “It is our goal to have guests that are Happy and can't wait to come back, so PLEASE report any problems or concerns as soon as you experience it. Please call our care-takers Beth and Jim. It is sometimes difficult to determine who is responsible for the damage that may occur during the stay and that is why we stress the importance of communication from our guests. Kresimir stayed in the house for three nights and did not once contact us. However, he acknowledged the broken faucet in a note that he left, which we found when our cleaning staff arrived in the house after his departure. We had four “turn-overs” during the month of December prior to Kresimir’s stay and none of the guests experienced nor reported any malfunctions. Additionally, the house was inspected and cleaned (using the sink and the faucet with no problem or signs of 'wear”) the morning of Kresimir’s arrival. To make the matters worse we had a family arriving that same afternoon for their Christmas week. Our caretaker was running around trying to find parts to fix the faucet, but to no avail since it was a Sunday. The faucet could not be repaired and had to be fully replaced on the next day. We held Kresimir’s $200 damage security deposit until we received the bills for repair. Being the Holiday Season, we did not get our invoice until the first part of January, which is when we communicated with Kresimir about the amount that was being deducted from his Security Deposit. In the deduction we did not include the extra time spend by our caretaker looking for the parts on Sunday, nor the bottle of wine that was sent to our guests for their inconvenience. Kresimir, if there was in fact a problem with the faucet we would have loved to have a chance to address it. That would have eliminated the question of your responsibility and also improved your stay. The best way to prove our integrity is to have the voices of our previous guests speak for us. It comes through numerous “happy” reviews and ratings that are on less than four-five stars. The last review we received was another Five Star*, posted just a week before Kresimir's stay. Kresimir himself left a glowing entry in our guest book*. (*see the postings in reviews) With respect, Renata

Perfect Lake Placid retreat

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed at the chalet in early Sept of 2014 for a 4 night stay. We were so happy that it was pet friendly, so his dog, Riley, could come along too. That was very important to us, because we had been searching for a pet friendly location. We had a great time during our stay. It was my first visit to Lake Placid, and I am hooked!

The chalet itself was comfortable and had all the necessities. It was perfect for two people and a dog. We enjoyed cooking on grill, eating outside on the large deck and using the hot tub every night after a day full of activities. The hot tub was a huge bonus and a nice feature that not every rental has.The location of the chalet was ideal. We were minutes away from Whiteface mountain and High falls gorge. About 20 mins from the village at Lake Placid where we enjoyed the Lake Placid pub and brewery and also close to most of the Olympic venues. On our last day we drove a little over 30 minutes to Ausable chasm, which we highly recommend. It truly deserves its name as one of the NY state's natural wonders. That was probably our favorite thing we did on the trip, the boat ride at the end is definitely worth it.

We only ran into a few minor issues with the chalet itself, mostly related to the grill. And our last night at the chalet we were surprised to find another guest in the chalet- a mouse! He was safely returned outdoors.

Booking and contacting Renata was very easy and I always got a prompt response. The security deposit was mailed back promptly within 2 weeks of our stay. Those touches would make me want to stay again or at another one of their locations. We had an amazing vacation and hope to come back again next year!

Owner's Response: We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay at "The 46-er". Thank you for taking your time to share your experience! We really appreciated you letting us know about the issues with the grill, we had Jim take care of that on your departure. As for the visitors, we learned that not only we had a "mousie" being attracted to "Our Secret Getaways" but a bear as well, who stopped over to check the goodies in the trash cans! We are located in a wild part of the Adirondacks and even though we take the necessary steps to discourage wild visitors it is almost impossible to avoid it completely, especially this time of the year, when everybody is looking frantically for Winter Accommodations. All the Best! Renata

Giving Thanks

  • 5 of 5

It has been four long years since we have been blessed enough to visit the 46er and we were somewhat worried that we had elevated this special paradise into something beyond what it was. Thus, we were quite pleasantly surprised to see that our memories had, if anything, not given full justice to the timeless beauty and relaxation that comes free with a stay at this very special place. Although bitterly cold out (even for Vermonters), the cabin was warm and cozy and the hot tub was just perfect on the long wintery nights (though the short walk from the tub to the door, while well worth it, was not quite so perfect). Our stay at the 46er made for the perfect relaxing Thanksgiving holiday and our Scotties absolutely loved their time chasing the many squirrels and chipmunks throughout the property. They enjoyed just lying by the fire chewing a bone even more. The kitchen more than lent itself to a simple Thanksgiving feast and we were quite content with every amenity offered. Shopping in Lake Placid on Black Friday was surprisingly relaxed and was just an easy 15-minute drive on a lovely mountain road full of wonderful scenery. Our only regret was the shortness of our stay. We look forward to returning to this hidden gem in the heart of the Adirondacks for another full week and we know our Scotties do too. The 46er will always be a very special home away from home for us. The owners and their property manager do a fantastic job to ensure your stay will go smoothly and they are always happy and available with any question or concern you might have. Thank you again for sharing this cabin with us.

Notes:
The chalet is really special in that it is comfortable for a family or a group of friends, yet still intimate for a couple alone. It's a great place just 'to be'- sitting up in the loft in the comfy oversize chair, reading a good book while listening to the gentle rain on the skylight or in the living room snuggled on the couch by the fireplace warming your soul.(At the 46er your firewood is cut, stacked and ready to go.) Or perhaps you prefer sitting on the meditation pillow, listening to the transcendental music while receiving the healing energy of this magical place. There is always a soft throw or a blanket at hand to wrap yourself in and many beautiful pillows to arrange for that 'just perfect fit'. In the winter, you'll appreciate the hot water radiators for warming-up your towels or drying wet mitts and socks. The new boiler provides(truly) unlimited hot water showers. The kitchen is well equipped, making it easy to fix a simple breakfast or a Thanksgiving Feast!
