Photos and Description of the Lake Placid vacation chalet rental
2 bedrooms, 1 bath, sleeps 6

The '46er', named for those that have mastered the highest peaks in the Adirondacks, keeps with the tradition of 46ers.

She is well equipped, well oriented and surrounded by beauty, leaving you never wanting to return home.

Unlike just another impersonal rental property, you'll find the warmth and comfort of home with soft cushy towels, down pillows and comforters.

The chalet is completely remodeled with hard wood floors, skylights, new kitchen and bathroom.

The chalet is nestled on a hillside facing Whiteface and Stephenson Ranges. Whiteface Olympic Mountain, which is only two miles away and offers the ultimate in winter sports! It was voted the Best Ski Center in the North East!

Lake Placid Village with all that it has to offer is just ten beautiful miles away on the most picturesque road of the Adirondacks. Here you can enjoy shopping, dining, arts and crafts, museums, The Olympic Center, golf, horse shows, movies, festivals, nightlife ... or 'in short' - hustle and bustle of this special, lively Olympic Village.

When your spirit moves you beyond the chalet, so much awaits!

First you'll encounter the large, wrap around deck which sports Adirondacks chairs and an outdoor dining area, and sometimes chickadees that will eat from your hands. You may not get much further for awhile. Many guests fall into the hammock for a snooze or fire up the grill to cook the trout they caught. The hot tub invites you for that romantic or relaxing dip after the day on the mountain. In the evening, there is the stone ring campfire for all the stories of the day.

Notes: The chalet is really special in that it is comfortable for a family or a group of friends, yet still intimate for a couple alone. It's a great place just 'to be'- sitting up in the loft in the comfy oversize chair, reading a good book while listening to the gentle rain on the skylight or in the living room snuggled on the couch by the fireplace warming your soul.(At the 46er your firewood is cut, stacked and ready to go.) Or perhaps you prefer sitting on the meditation pillow, listening to the transcendental music while receiving the healing energy of this magical place. There is always a soft throw or a blanket at hand to wrap yourself in and many beautiful pillows to arrange for that 'just perfect fit'. In the winter, you'll appreciate the hot water radiators for warming-up your towels or drying wet mitts and socks. The new boiler provides(truly) unlimited hot water showers. The kitchen is well equipped, making it easy to fix a simple breakfast or a Thanksgiving Feast!

Amazing Adirondack Hideaway!

5 of 5
Submitted: October 13, 2009 Stayed: September 2009
My fiancée and I decided we needed a vacation. I was tasked with finding a perfect one-week getaway and The 46'er is definitely it. The cabin is fully stocked with everything you would want for a peaceful romantic retreat in the Adirondacks. Renata and Charly have done an amazing job of stocking this retreat with all the little touches that make it feel as one is coming home to their own magical retreat. Every drawer and nook held another wonderful surprise that made our trip just that more perfect. It is clearly evident that the owners love this cabin as much as their guests. They have left no detail unchecked with property and they were both excited and happy to offer advice on what to do in the local area. For a first time visitor to the Adirondacks, their vast knowledge and willingness to share was invaluable. We went hiking every morning out the back yard on miles of trails that surround the property. For a wonderful early morning view of Whiteface, We highly recommend hiking to a small clearing up a 4-wheeler track out the back yard. We grilled almost every night and enjoyed much needed relaxing soaks in the hot tub on the tranquil privacy of the wrap-around deck. It was a spectacular feeling to relax and simply gaze at the pitch-black country sky full of stars one will never see in the city. A rainy day meant chili in our crock-pot and Casablanca on the TV (thanks to their wonderful movie selection). A second rainy day was no worse. We simply enjoyed the peaceful silence that comes from no outside distractions. The pitter-patter of raindrops on the roof recalled a simpler time while we relaxed on the couch each with a good book. No annoying cell phone calls, no intrusive Internet, no loud neighbors, just the wonderful luxury that is peace and quiet. We loved reading books from their diverse selection, hiking with our Scottish Terrier, canoeing on a nearby lake, shopping in Lake Placid, and wine tasting at some of the local wineries. Dinner at The Hungry Trout was a wonderful experience. Hiking at the nearby Wilmington Flume and up Whiteface was just as fun. The best part of the trip was being able to bring our Scottie. He loved chasing the numerous squirrels and chipmunks that inhabit the property and we loved not having to worry about him in a kennel for the week. It was great to have our entire family (man, woman and Scottie) together on vacation. It truly was Heaven on Earth. We are already planning our next trip!

Owner's Response: Bryan, you make me want to be there!
Thank you so much for your kind words!

Comfy and Cozy, Perfect Honeymoon

4 of 5
Submitted: February 18, 2013 Stayed: February 2013
This was out honeymoon getaway. We had never been to the Adirondacks before, but we definitely want to go back. Lake Placid is about twenty mins away and very charming. The cottage was very cozy, we made good use of the fireplace and hot tub. This cottage was perfect for our honeymoon, but with the two twin beds in the loft would also be great for family getaways.

2012 Christmas Vacation (Nocito Family - Philadelphia, PA)

5 of 5
Submitted: February 6, 2013 Stayed: December 2012
My husband and I and our eight year old son stayed at the 46-er over the 2012 Christmas and New Year’s week (Dec 22 - Dec 29) and it was an awesome home and location (it is really only 2 miles from Whiteface Mountain!!!). We are not lodge-people; we like a private home with a great location, fireplace, and hot tub.

I don’t know where to begin complimenting this home; location, location, location, beautifully decorated, great hardwood floors, perfect size kitchen and well stocked, great fireplace with dry and conveniently located wood, big wraparound porch with a large hot tub, and responsive & accommodating local property managers (BIG thank you to the Davis family)!! We had 20 inches of snow fall in less than 24 hours and the street, deck, and driveway were plowed multiple times!

We truly loved this home and would love to come back! We have a four-year tradition in the making where we spend the week between Christmas and New Year’s away skiing, and next year we are already scheduled for the west coast, otherwise would be coming back for 2013. We will definitely be back to the 46-er in the next 3 or 4 years (if available)!!!

OTHER COMMENTS:
CLEANISNESS: house was very clean!!
BONUS: Pet friendly
GRIPES: Our one and only gripe is the coffee maker is old and does not keep your coffee hot.
NEEDS: You must have an SUV or 4-wheel drive anywhere in upstate New York (obvious!!)
SUGGESTIONS/OPINIONS: best grocery shopping is in Keene before you get into Wilmington or Lake Placid proper (9 to 11 miles past the house). Purchase fire starter bricks as there was no kindling or ax to make your own kindling (no biggie, just nice to know beforehand)
WHITEFACE MOUNTAIN: Great Skiing! Snowboard/Ski school was excellent for our son! Before Whiteface we skied and put our child in the following ski schools: Stowe, VT; Sun Valley, ID, and Big Sky, MT, and this ski school was as good and equally accommodating!!
HOME OWNER/LOCAL PROPERT MANGERS: friendly, helpful & accommodating!!

Owner's Response: Thank YOU Jane!

You don't even know what it means for us to hear back from our guests.

We do take pride in what we do and a feedback from our guests is essential in creating the best possible experience for us all.

I'm on the mission to buy a new coffee maker, nobody mentioned it's dysfunction earlier.
This is a great example of how the feed back is important, since you only learn about it through experience, when you stay at the place.

Thank you again for being our guests, and please don't hesitate to let us know when you are ready for your next visit to any of our Vacation Homes.

All the Best,
Renata

Great stay!

5 of 5
Submitted: February 3, 2013 Stayed: January 2013
Me and my husband wanted to have a relaxing weekend in the mountains. We had been looking for a little cottage with a hot tub and The 46'er seemed to be the ideal location. The woods around the 46er had some wonderful walking trails and the cabin itself is cute and romantic and has an eclectic assortment of furnishings and decor. As soon as Renata found out the hot tub wasn't working and couldn't be fixed, she contacted us and offered a very generous solution. We ended up staying a second day in another property of hers that had a working hot tub, which was great after our day of cross country skiing. Lake Placid is definitely worth a visit and our stay was absolutely wonderful thanks to Renata.

What a perfect place for a family getaway. Hot tub was amazing after a day of hiking and the grill on the deck was easy to use and heated up quickly. It really felt like a weekend home and we were so happy to have a dog friendly clean place to bring our german sherpherd who loved sittting on the deck.
.
the village of lake placid was a pleasant town, not too touristy and the beer at the brewery was so good!
highly recommend !
