Location:
SeaDreams is only 20 minutes from Governor's Harbor Airport (GHB). Ten Bay Beach stretches for half of a mile and has very limited access. The house is located directly on the water on the Caribbean (west) side where the water is clear and calm. The sandy bottom makes for excellent swimming, and easy entry into the water right from the foot of the property. Beautiful ceramic tile covers every square foot of the home's floor. The home has one private bedroom, one bathroom, a large living room with cathedral ceiling, dining room, kitchen, outdoor porch swing, large outdoor sun deck, and a small tiki hut by the ocean steps. Additional guests can be accommodated easily on the pull out sofa bed. The house is fully furnished, and has everything you need to have a great vacation! Local restaurants and grocery stores are within 3 miles.
General Info:
Entering the Bahamas
To enter Eleuthera you will need proof of citizenship such as a Passport, Birth Certificate, or Voter Registration card. A driver's license is NOT adequate.
Bring cash or traveler's checks
There are very few places that accept credit cards, and when they do there is a 3% surcharge. On Eleuthera cash is king. If you are uncomfortable traveling with cash then bring traveler's checks. Personal checks may be accepted, but not at all places.
Currency
The Bahamian government considers U.S. currency equivalent to Bahamian currency, and the two can be used interchangeably. Upon returning you will receive less of an exchange rate so use your Bahamian currency while you are there, or save it and use it for your return visit next year!
ATM machine
Modern conveniences have found Eleuthera. The island's first ATM machine was installed in April of 1999, and is located in Rock Sound at the Scotia Bank about 20 minutes south of the house.
About Eleuthera:
We are on an island that began life as a coral reef, part of a high ocean plateau whose shallow covering of water sprouts islands like mushrooms. This island is not a circular one, a palm-tufted atoll, as in the Pacific Ocean, but a long, hump-backed ridge, stretching for a hundred miles, and varying in width from six miles to a bare three-quarters of a mile, or even less. It is rather like a petrified antediluvian monster with peculiar appendages, wallowing in a display of beautiful sea that is unrivaled anywhere in the world. The monster's back is mainly dark green, with lighter patches here and there, and edged with black, gray and pale pink scallops with one long, pale strip along the edge of one flank.
Golf:
Eleuthera is home to the Cotton Bay Club in Rock Sound, about a 20 minute drive from the house. Cotton Bay was designed by Robert Trent Jones, and has a championship layout running right along the ocean coast. The pros used to have tournaments there, but that stopped some time ago. The course is not in the best of shape. Make the trip if you love to play, and enjoy good layouts. Expect the course to be playable , but far from championship condition. You don't need to make a tee time. The greens fees are $100US, and they don't take credit cards. You can rent clubs for $15. Negotiate for a replay. They don't have carts or caddies. The ocean holes are truly spectacular. Do expect to lose a fair number of balls if you spray the ball a bit.
Guest Book:
We love Eleuthera and SeaDreams! I was able to celebrate my 50th B'day here. Emma and I love your special spot.
Thank you for having this very unique home in the Bahamas.

Being at SeaDreams has been all I hoped for --- and more. The quiet solitude. The wonderful swimming and snorkeling.
The beauty of the surroundings. The homey comforts --- you've thought of everything Bret and Ann. I leave with reluctance,
but a profound sense of peace and oneness with God. I'll always think of SeaDreams as a place of old remembrances
and new beginnings.
