Spacious living room/dining room combo with cathedral ceilings and spectacular views of the ocean. Fully equipped kitchen and third floor master bedroom with king sized bed and full bath. Second floor includes 3 queen beds, 2 sets of bunk beds and a second den. First floor newly converted to game-room with pool table, Foosball, mini kitchen and half bath. Multi-level ocean side deck with furniture and 6 person hot tub. Outside shower for rinsing off after a day at the beach. Camp style barbecue and picnic table. Walking distance from pristine uncrowded shores perfect for fishing swimming, boating, surfing or relaxing. Located in a small peaceful maritime community, miles from the stress of the everyday. 7 TV's, 6 DVD's, 2 VCR's and playstation. Linens are provided for your convenience. Close to local shops and restaurants.

The property is located in Salvo, a quaint village on Hatteras Island. The beaches here are beautiful and uncrowded. There are many local restaurants and shops within 5 miles as well as the Rodanthe Fishing Pier. Within one mile there is public sound access and local outfitters specializing in rental water craft of all kinds. National wildlife refuges abound as well as other cultural and nature adventures. Nearby Manteo hosts a wonderful aquarium, The Elizabeth II and the acclaimed outdoor drama, 'The Lost Colony.' Two famous lighthouses are within 30 minutes.

The Old Richmond: The house is named for a really cool pre-civil war shipwreck which is still very visible from the shores directly in front of the property. Besides being a great landmark directing you back towards the cottage, the Old Richmond is a fantastic reminder of the island's rich history. The Outer Banks are full of terrific museums and exciting learning opportunities. A few of our favorites include the Wright Brothers Monument and museum, Hatteras Island Lighthouse and visitor center, Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge (neat place for turtle sightings), and Jockey's Ridge. The chicamacomico life-saving station in Rodanthe is an excellent place to learn more about The Old Richmond as well as other shipwrecks and local lore. My grandmother's house, as well as many other early homes on the island were actually constructed from the salvaged wood of ships. I hope you enjoy your stay and get lots of relaxation.

The location was perfect and right on the beach. The property was clean and well maintained. We had some problems with the hot tub but the owner was quick to make repairs and offered us an extra night in exchange for our troubles.

Our family had a wonderful time in this Salvo home on the beach. We will definitely recommend it to others.
