Really is 'OLD' Hawaii

Hawaii was incredible but not sure I would EVER stay at this place again. The reservation process was comforting and friendly but upon arrival the experience went downhill. We were immediately greeted by the owners who insisted on showing us everything which seemed pointless. She acted as if we had never stayed in a home such as this and seemed to suggest that it was 'our' privilege that they were letting us stay in their place. They immediately required that all of us remove our shoes before entering the 'supposed' palace including my crippled father. This started the downhill slide. She then proceeded to discipline my children telling them everything they couldn't do in this house. Basically she expected them to sit outside or in the middle of the floor and touch nothing. I do have to admit, this is probably the nicest house on the block which isn't saying much. The two houses on either side of it were falling apart and would have been condemned where I come from. It does have a couple of mediocre air conditioners but learned after our long week there that this beach area is the hottest on the island not to mention the 'roughest' part of the island. I guess you get what you pay for, although there were many other properties in the same price range.
If I had to find something good about the place it would be that the grounds are VERY nicely manicured and the location is right on the beach. The kids did have fun on the beach chasing sand crabs. Don't plan on any ocean breezes passing through the house though. Even though you can open all the windows and doors, you're on the wrong side of the island for any breeze so expect to be hot. The pictures of the house are deceiving... it looks very classy but it's more like a late 80s early 90s low budget remodel that ran short of cash. Everything looks half done.
The traffic on the island is bad everywhere but particularly worse in this area. It's less than 15 miles into the action of Honolulu but the drive each day each way was over an hour. Sometimes 2-3 hours. We would never stay here again. Find something on the east, southeast or north shore.
Owner's Response: Unfortunately we cannot please all guests, no matter how hard we try or want to. Please read all reviews on this site to see what others have to say about Paradize III.
We do like to meet and greet the guests as they arrive at the house to one, finally meet who we have been communicating with over the last months while answering questions and getting the home reserved for them and to tell them a few things about the home since Paradize III is not a new home, which we never advertise it as such, and there are things we like to mention and point out to the guests . Yes we do have some rules and regulation which we do review with everyone that checks in, such as No Smoking, Gate assess to the beach, hose outside to wash off sand, washer/ dryer, spa tub, etc. Also some people have never rented a home and it is a totally new experience, so we try to make that as pleasant and welcoming as possible.
I have been told that the pictures do not do the house justice, but that is again just someone's opinion. We do try to keep Paradize III as clean and neat as we can. As well as everything to our knowledge in working order. If something breaks while someone is in the house, as long as they let us know, it will get fixed as soon as possible. However, if never mentioned till after they are gone, how are we to improve and make sure they are getting what they paid for.
There are a few things that we have no control over, the weather and traffic. Hawaii is a warm, tropical climate and can be very hot, especially if the trade winds are not blowing. I will admit, even the best wall air conditioner may not cool you off. So my suggestion is take advantage of the ocean right outside your back door and Enjoy!
In regards to traffic, unfortunately when this party rented they were doing major construction on the main road in and out of Ewa Beach, but traffic all over the island is awful. You are on an island and only so many roads to go only to some many places and way to many people. If one wants to be in Honolulu or Waikiki all the time, then maybe they should stay there rather than a home away from the hustle and bustle, as advertised.
For any and all checking out our home, please feel free to call or e-mail with all questions and we would be more than happy to answer them open and honestly as well as providing referrals to people that have stayed at Paradize III. Mahalo
