Overview

St. Regis Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Sofa Bed, 2 Baths, (sleeps up 6 adults plus two kids)

Sloway Cabin, a newer, beautiful log home, sits on twelve acres of meadow and woods that are visited nightly by deer and sometimes by bear, moose and elk. The land includes 7 acres along the Clark Fork River, just across the dead-end gravel road from the Cabin.

One hour from Missoula and two from Spokane, the Cabin has very convenient access yet feels like another world--secluded and private. Inside the warmth of the log walls and the high vaulted ceiling create an immediate sense of peace and comfort. At nearly 1,450 sq. ft. the Cabin feels just right-- small enough to be cozy but big enough for everyone. It's the perfect spot for celebrating a birthday, quiet anniversary, or hosting a small family gathering.

Long summer days are for swimming, floating, and fishing the Clark Fork, St. Regis, and Flathead Rivers. To the west, wonderful hiking trails lead to high alpine lakes along Montana/Idaho border. Mountain biking the Hiawatha Trail--over historic (and high!) railroad trestles and through cool dark tunnels--is another favorite. Trestle Creek Golf Course is just 3 miles down the road in St. Regis, where you'll also find two great antique shops.

Should you be able to come in the fall... lucky you! Crisp air, starry nights, and perhaps an evening bonfire. This is the season for more hiking and mountain biking, hunting, antique shopping, and enjoying Quinns Hot Springs.

Once the snow flies there's great skiing and snowboarding at Lookout Pass, just 30 minutes from the Cabin. Lookout has tripled in size over the past few years and boasts some of the Northwest's earliest and best snow. Silver Mountain is another 20 miles down the road. Not a downhiller? The surrounding National Forest has many hundred miles of trails for snowmobiling and cross country skiing. Or simply enjoy a cozy time playing board games, reading, and connecting with friends and family.

After a fun-filled day you'll love hanging out on the Cabin's wrap-around porch. Log rockers invite you to savor the lingering warmth of the sun as you enjoy a cool drink, recount the day's adventures with friends and family, and watch the sun set over the mountains across the river.

No matter what you enjoy at Sloway Cabin the time will pass too quickly. But you're sure to depart feeling relaxed, refreshed, and renewed.

Please note: the cabin is not suitable for young children--it's not child-proof and the loft railings and the stairway balusters are too widely spaced (see photo). Guest dogs will be considered with adherence to the Cabin's pet policy; pet rent is $20 per night.

Please have a look at the guest comments below, visit the Cabin on Facebook, and feel free to contact me for more information. Thanks!

About Kate Supplee

The cabin is such a treasure and quiet retreat. We love hanging out with friends, enjoying campfires, working on the place, and the great nearby hiking and skiing. It's been very gratifying to share the Cabin and see the enjoyment and delight it brings to others. It has become a special place to many folks, including a number of return guests.

Kate Supplee purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Kate Supplee chose St. Regis

St. Regis and Sloway, in particular, are undiscovered parts of Western Montana, and the western gateway to Glacier National Park. I love the Cabin's amazing log construction and peaceful setting by the Clark Fork River. Yet it's only an hour's drive from my home in Missoula. Most of Mineral County land is public land with public access-- Forest Service, BLM, and Plum Creek. So there's great hiking, biking, hunting, and skiing close by.

What makes this cabin unique

There's so much to do near Sloway, but most people love simply hanging out and relaxing at the cabin, enjoying the peace and quiet. People use the cabin to reconnect with family, disconnect from the work-world, and generally have a wonderful time. It's the perfect place for birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions.

Guestbook comments from the owner

WOW! Your home is absolutely beautiful and just what we needed for our little getaway. Your love for your cabin is evident in every detail and very welcoming. We knew from the moment we drove up that we had stumbled upon something great!

It was too early in the year to head up any of the mountain lake trails, but we had fun exploring the river trail and local antique shops, and ended the day with a fabulous dinner at Quinns Hot Springs.

Thank you for opening up your lovely home to strangers.

This Cabin and Kate her husband and Newman (their Pup) is so highly recommended , this cabins decor and furnishing are so welcoming , so perfect. The owners greeted us so kindly. The cabin is well stocked with spices , utinsels , cooking accs. We made Thanksgiving dinner 2 times with 6 of us total. And it was in no way cramped. My family enjoyed the experience as well. Thank you Kate. You guys are so sweet. Sad I didn't get to meet Shelley. I did meet her husband. He was so sweet. Loved the area. So private. And the xm radio was great. Thanks again. From our family to yours. Happy Holidays. And Merry Christmas. Dwayne Tami and pups. :D

Weekend get-away

  • 5 of 5
The cabin was very clean and exceptionally well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Very good access to the river. The cabin is situated on a very quiet gravel road, so no need to worry about lots of local traffic. The description of the cabin was everything it said and more. The photos truly represent the picturesque setting. We would highly recommend this vacation get-away to anyone looking to spend time in the area.

Cabin was clean and comfortable. It is ideally located a short walk to the Clark Fork River, especially nice if you're fishing. Train and highway noise are noticeable but not too distracting. Caretaker Shelley was very nice and brought us homemade cookies and onions from her garden. All in all, a great place to stay and relax.

What an awesome place!

  • 5 of 5
I went up with a group of friends for a simple getaway weekend and this cabin was PERFECT. The property feels so welcoming when you drive up, and the inside of the cabin feels just as great. So open and spacious and very well stocked with everything needed for an enjoyable vacation. We golfed, hiked, relaxed, and "had as much fun as possible" as instructed by the owner. We really appreciated our time here and can't wait to do it again!

Good Cabin For Price Point

  • 4 of 5
We just got back from our trip to Montana and stayed 9 days at SLOWAY CABIN. Owner is very friendly and keeps in constant communication, even while you are there on vacation, as do the neighbors.

The cabin is beautiful and well maintained, but has no air. The upstairs was quite stuffy during August and is very warm even with fans on and blinds closed during the day. During our stay, the outside of cabin was absolutely infested with yellowjackets. HUNDREDS! Keep this in mind when traveling so that you can bring an EPI PEN if needed. Two out of the four of us were stung one or more times. We are not scared of bees, so we were ok, just would have liked to enjoy the outside amenities more during the day.

If you are planning your trip to go to Glacier NAtional PArk as we were, it is far! The day we spent in Glacier was a 14 hour day with the drive back to Sloway, it was exhausting and there was no way to include hiking. When we planned the trip, we thought we were closer( in regards to the listing), so it was rather disappointing to find out that we could not really be in the park daily without the long drive, each way.

The train was awesome and we got lots of pictures of it on the Clark Fork!

There are really no dining options to speak of other than a couple of gas station/grill type places, which was fine for the first night. So we cooked and planned a trip to Missoula to eat and go the the brewery. We enjoyed the Tamarac Brewery very much.

This is a great cabin, if you want seclusion and to hike in the area. The owner has put together a lot of maps and inforamtion for hiking and local things to do around the cabin.

Would not recommend location if trip is planned around GNP. We ended up driving to Seattle one day while we were there and it turned out to be almost the same timeframe as our GNP day.

All in all, I think the cabin is beautiful and we made it a great trip!

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The amenities at this cabin are first rate. The room for expansion and play is exceptional. It is definitely a prime property to rent and have a completely wonderful experience. Thank You!!!
