Good value; nice condo in a mediocre location.

'Oceanfront' is a slightly misleading term as used here. There is no, repeat no, direct access to the ocean/beach from the condo. The pictured beach can be accessed only by walking for roughly two hundred feet along the shoulder of a major highway. Yes, you can see the ocean from the balcony of this unit. However, you can also see a dilapidated former restaurant (formerly the 'Seashell', I believe, which is overgrown with weeds, etc.) and the aforementioned major highway. You will hear traffic noise at all times of the day and in all rooms of the unit. The location relative to the island's attractions is good (the East Side of Kauai is centrally located with regard to highways). However, this is not a good choice for those wishing to lounge about their lodgings and enjoy a quiet stroll to the beach. You will need to drive to all beaches and major attractions. On a more positive note, this unit represents an excellent value compared to other Kauai properties. All of the furnishings are comfortable, the full kitchen comes in handy, and Safeway and several good restaurants are less than 2 miles away. You can drive to any point on Kauai within roughly 90 minutes, and the full-size laundry machine, free WiFi, cable TV, beach chairs, snorkel gear, and LCD TVs are nice touches. Bottom line: a nice condo in a sub-par location; a good choice for budget travel and families, but honeymooners and those seeking tranquility probably should look elsewhere.
