Lake Minong (Minong Flowage) is a highly desirable lake in Northwestern Wisconsin. It is 1564 acres in size and is similar to the Canadian Wilderness. There are numerous islands with little bays to explore. The shoreline is heavily wooded with pines and hardwoods, and the lake provides abundant walleye, northern, bass and panfish. It is considered a sportsman's and recreational lake with good quality lake water. Swimming is great at Sand Island, the park public beach, or just off the dock.
This area also includes miles and miles of ATV and snowmobiling trails and is quite heavily forested.
If you need any supplies there is a great General Store located within 3 miles of the Lake Home. This store provides groceries, wine and beer, dvd rentals, fishing licenses and bait, gas, propane, and a full selection of hardware tools and supplies. Specialty coffee drinks available as well.
The Lake Home is located only 25 miles west of the quaint town of Hayward, Wisconsin with a wide selection of shops and restaurants.
Come experience this delightful, well-kept secret in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

My wife and I found this property after searching for ten years to obtain a high quality lakeshore lot in which to build a dream home. We had so much fun creating a cozy northwoods home and did not use one piece of sheet rock. The home is filled with knotty pine walls and beamed ceilings. We love just sitting by the fieldstone fireplace!
Ted LeVin purchased this house in 2005
Locating the lake home on a large lake with many islands and bays to explore seemed like the perfect place. When we saw the Bald Eagles nesting on the lake we were sold on the location.
The deck overlooking the lake is one of the prettiest views we have seen. It truly is like the 'On Golden Pond' movie pictures with a jutting peninsula and Pine trees.
A group of 6 friends enjoyed a couple nights in this beautiful log home. Accommodations were great, beautiful scenery, and a secluded peace of heaven! Owner was very attentive and provided all the details for a successful rental. Thank you for a relaxing getaway!
A couple of years ago, we decided to take the plunge and rent a cabin for a week. Thanks to my daughter-in-law, who found this amazing cabin! We figured we'd try it, then look for another place for the following year, and so on, in hopes of finding just the right place. Our search ended the moment we walked onto the deck that overlooks the lake. Even though we knew the cabin was large, we didn't appreciate how spacious it is until the rest of the family showed up. We were blessed with almost perfect weather, so we spent every daylight hour outdoors, but we quickly realized that if we had had to stay inside, there was enough space to accommodate the entire crew.
The table tennis and air hockey tables got a few short workouts, and the big TV was on only long enough to know it worked. The kitchen is large enough for most of three families to work in it at the same time. It's on one side of the large living room, with a fireplace on the other side, so everyone could be together yet pursue their own activities. At any given time, some might be preparing food, while others would be reading, coloring, working on puzzles, playing with Lego blocks, or snoozing on a couch. A nice touch is a gate on the ample deck, so we didn't have to worry about the toddler wandering off.
The lake is big enough so it's not boring, yet easy to navigate. We rented a pontoon boat, and took it out every day; it also served as an extension of the deck. Sand Island was a hit with the kids, who dug foxholes, ran up and slid down the hill, and swam in the water; one of them swam all the way around the island!
The one day we had a little rain, we drove to the fish museum in Hayward. We took the pontoon to the north end of the lake the last evening for dinner at Pogo's Harbor Inn. Expecting just the average, rustic place so common to remote areas, we were surprised by both the variety of of selections and the quality. We're definitely going back again!
Going back to Pogo's, of course, requires that we return to the cabin, so we have no choice but to return. No problem with that, though, as we reserved the cabin again as soon as we got back home.
I can't say enough good things about the owner. He answered all our questions before we made our reservation, gave us a lot of helpful information about the area, answered more questions, made the rental process as painless as can be, called the day we arrived, and made us feel like friends of the family instead of renters.
We enjoyed celebrating our family Christmas at this beautiful lake home. We intentionally chose this site hoping be able to do some cross-country skiing in the area but there was not enough snow so we left our ski gear at home. We did have a light fresh snowfall while we were there and it made for a beautiful walk to the county park just down the road. Inside we enjoyed the fireplace and the kids made good use of the table tennis and air hockey equipment. The huge windows gave a breathtaking view of the frozen lake and woods. The kitchen was well equipped for preparing our meals though there was only enough eating utensils for 8 which wasn't enough for our group. The owner assured us they will address this problem as well as making it clear how many of the extra beds will be furnished with bedding. All in all this was a beautifully decorated north woods lake home and a joy to stay in.
We had a short but pleasant visit to this lake home. The owners were very responsive to questions and provided ample information ahead of time to make our vacation comfortable. Unfortunately it was too cold to enjoy the lake but we did have fun in Hayward which was only about 30 minutes away. Our boys loved the air hockey and table tennis. I loved the fireplace! We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
The breath taking views matched this breath taking north woods home!!! This amazing place was built in 2005 but looked as if construction was just completed last week! Immaculate condition with beautiful attention to detail! Our week on the Minong flowage provided a great canoe experience with islands to explore and wildlife to enjoy. We saw many bald eagles, a porcupine, deer, waterfowl and even an otter poked his head out of the water to say hello! My husband caught fish each and every day with especially good luck by the dam. Large mouth bass, walleye, bluegill, northern and crappie! Our weather within 7 days ranged from 80 degrees to snow! We turned the central air off and the fireplace kept the whole home warm and cozy! We definitely enjoyed the Packer / Viking game on the ginormous big screen TV downstairs! (Go Pack Go!) Highly recommend this property!
The lake home was fantastic. The weather was beautiful and so was the view overlooking the river. We enjoyed our coffee on the deck in the mornings, bean bag toss in the yard, dice games on the screened in porch, laughing by the campfire and of course we enjoyed our favorite meals and snacks in the generously equipped kitchen. We enjoyed all of the amenities provided by the owner. There was nothing that we needed or did not have during our stay. We felt like we had all of the comforts of home. The beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of wood for the campfire, beautiful log furniture to use on the outside deck. The home was furnished with everything that you could need or want. We enjoyed the music with surround sound through out the home. The owner even called us the first evening to check in and see if we needed anything. He told us about the various sites and activities in our area and recommended places to shop and dine. They even left a fully complete "Cabin Book" filled with everything from how to turn on lights to where we could find pontoons/watercrafts to rent and where to eat. The owners thought of everything and it made our stay enjoyable and relaxing. We had such a wonderful time and did not want to leave. In fact, we are making this an annual event. We can't wait for next year. We recommend that you do not pass up a chance to stay here. We all had a wonderful time........
