We had a wonderful stay at Casa Geraldina. Just loved the convenient location, close to so many fun things.
The house is super cute and the backyard is such a relaxing spot.
We are looking forward to another stay in the Spring 2011
This house is wonderful. The pictures don't do it justice. It is warm and comfortable. It was ideal for travelling with a young child as we could shut the door to the back of the house with the bedrooms when he was sleeping to enjoy some adult time. The backyard area is so inviting. It was a wonderful oasis for relaxing. If we hadn't had so many planned dinners, we would have been grilling back there for sure. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly.
The house is ideally situated, the zoo was so close we actually walked (about 1 mile). We were on and off the highways in minutes when we travelled to various hiking trails and LEGOLAND. Mystic Café is right around the corner and was ideal for morning or afternoon coffee or breakfast (the crew is very friendly and remembers people quickly). We didn't eat in the area but did stop in to the Small Bar for a beer at one point. The restaurants we decided to eat at were a short drive away, most right on 5th just 5 minutes away. If you have small kids, there is a fun playground/park just down the street.
Sue was wonderful to deal with. We had to call on one thing, we needed to clean a comforter and were uncomfortable doing it in the home washer/dryer. She was so pleasant and helped us immediately.
We definitely recommend this house whether travelling with kids, for a romantic getaway or time with the girls/guys.
Mick and Bev were extremely accommodating of our difficult situation (possible late cancellation due to medical travel), and we're very grateful for that! The house is cute and cozy and has an awesome back patio for relaxing in the shade. The house is conveniently located for just about everything, and the restaurants in nearby University Heights is worth checking out. We loved staying here. Thanks again!
Casa de Geraldina is a great place to stay for vacation. Location was incredible..close to everything we wanted to do & essentially in the heart of San Diego where you get to experience the great night life, parks, shops restaurants, etc.
Essentially a split plan with the common areas in the middle of the home. The kitchen was very accommodating & had plenty of room for a few people get meals ready. Casa de Geraldina is/was a diamond in the rough in our eyes during our stay but once we left we that changed.
A few days after our stay at Casa de Geraldina, property managers (Sue & Mick) contacted us via email about two complaints that were received by neighbors. This was a bit puzzling to us since we had contacted them the day before to let them know how much we enjoyed staying there & asked if there were any issues and they told us "no issues at all " & even told us about another property they have if we ever wanted to use them again. Great, right! Well, apparently the neighbors had complained that we stayed up very night partying until 1am and kept them at night. We also had 4 children with us ranging in ages from 18 months to 7yrs old... I'm not sure how we could have kept the neighbors up at night but our own children were sound asleep every night. We never once stayed up until 1am, nor did we ever party there. The latest we ever stayed up was our 2nd night there until 11pm. Besides with all the adventures we had during our stay there (during the day), I'm not sure how didn't pass out the minute we walked back into the house.
There was also a complaint that we had a dog at the property, this was also false. Had there been a dog at the house I'm sure that trace of either dog hair, or fecal matter would've appeared somewhere.
The last complaint the neighbors made was that there was heavy smoking... We did have a smoker with us but not once did they ever smoke in the house, they always smoked outside. So I'm not sure where the neighbors wanted them to smoke.
Before we left we absolutely made sure everything was picked up, the house was exactly the same way as when we arrived. Check out time was at 10am but the cleaning lady showed up at 9am while we were packing up to leave, not sure why they would show up early.
After all this the property manager told us we couldn't ever rent from them again.
Great place but just beware of neighbors.
Our family (2 adults, 4 kids) stayed here for 9 nights at the end of April. We were very happy with the property, which has great character and charm. Plenty of room for everyone, the kids liked having their own little "wing" of the house with the bedroom, office (2 of them slept there), and their own bathroom. The little backyard was very nice to have. Very pretty landscaping. The kitchen/living area was a good size and we were able to cook several meals there, which was great. Parking was never a problem and it was very nice to able to walk to some restaurants. The location was great-very close to Balboa Park-and the neighborhood was nice and quiet. Pretty much everything we wanted to do was within a 15-30 minute drive, if not less. We would definitely stay here again!
We traveled to this residence in late August with a 4 year old and 1 year old. The layout was great for our purposes. The kids enjoyed having a play area and bathroom in the same area. The kitchen is well appointed, and towels etc are provided. We really loved the orange tree and covered back yard.
The vacuum cleaner wasn't working, and there wasn't a dust pan which made cleaning up a bit of a challenge.
I enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property.
We stayed in this home while attending Comicon. The four of us - two adults, two teens - found the house perfect for our needs. My wife loved the enclosed backyard. The neighborhood, in particular, was fabulous. Great walking area with outstanding restaurants (Mystic Mocha, Sultan Banoo Persian, Lastat, Adams St. Cafe), shopping (Buddha Eye) and hidden treasures (Frank the Train Man with the attached A.J. Crowley museum of early automobiles, early 20th century technology, as well as toy trains). Easy access to the rest of San Diego.
This home is about ten minutes away from the beach, downtown, Petco Park, the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Fashion Valley, Qualcomm stadium, Sea Port Village, Old Town, and Balboa Park. There is easy access to the freeway leading you north, to the Wild Animal Park and Legoland, or south, to Mexico. Minutes away is the 8 freeway, which can take you either West to the beaches, or East, to the mountains.
