Full kitchen, laundry, direct T.V. with 3 receivers, high speed wireless connection, local phone, DVD player. Near marina. Quiet area three miles from U.S.1 and shopping. I maintain a first come first served policy. To secure your reservations, book early. NEW; Family day pass for Bahia Honda State Beach Provided at no extra cost. One of best U.S. Beaches. If you bring your own boat, a certificate for a free launch and recovery is provided at no charge. A contact for boat rentals in Big Pine Key can be provuded if you don't have a boat. Big Pine Key is in a national wildlife refuge protecting Key Deer, Great White Herrons and other rare species. This property is located in the Doctors Arm sub-division giving fishermen quick access to both the Atlantic and the Gulf of mexico. On the gulf side is the back country. Flats fishing is excellent and a thrilling experience. One has to actually 'hunt' the fish. This does require a shallow draft boat of around 6 inches. Fighting a 4 foot shark or a 30 pound Permit, for 30 minutes on 12 pound line in a foot of water will give you something to talk about for a long time. After fishing a short drive to Key West presents dining, shoping, art galleries, and historical sites.

Outside just off the dock is an outdoor shower to remove salt and sand when you return from fishing or a day at one of the most highly rated beaches in the Keys. Notes: Under the porch is a rattan table and chairs just feet from the water for relaxing in the shade and watching wild life (Key Deer) gulls or Iguanas. Two chaise lounges are provide for sun bathing. The gas grill is located near the fish cleaning station on the dock (as is the water hose in case you are a first time grill cook). A backup propane tank is provided and available in case the tank in use runs dry in the middle of your grilling. Under the sun deck is the outdoor shower to hose off the sand and salt. I can't think of a time when the water temperature is uncomfortable. Under the porch is a bait freezer for your frozen bait. No need to share freezer space with your food supply. The seawall is 50 feet long and will accommodate your boat. The limiting factor is the canal width of 30 feet.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home away from home! The location of this house is absolutely perfect! We loved the privacy of no neighbors to one side and across the canal. It was very convenient having the beach less that 15 minutes away (we used the beach pass several times, it was quite a money saver), Key West less than 45 minutes away, and the Winn Dixie grocery store less that 5 minutes (no need to bring any groceries)! We enjoyed being able to step right into our boat and be out in the open water in just a matter of minutes. We also liked the variety of outdoor spaces with plenty of outdoor furniture....a large paved driveway, shade under the house, sun by the dock, the screened porch upstairs and the sun deck upstairs too. The neighborhood is safe and quaint. It was great for bike riding and watching the Key Deer and iguanas. Other fun activities to do at Captain Ron's are painting buoys (our kids loved this unusual project) and taking the kayak out for a spin. The house was very clean, well equipped and comfortable! Captain Ron was very personable, kind and helpful! We highly recommend Captain Ron's house for a dream vacation in the Florida Keys!

Honeymoon Getaway

My Wife and I came here for our honeymoon and completely fell in love with the place. Its not just the house its the atmosphere on big pine key. Deer come right up to the house. I am a Fisherman by trade, We caught all kinds of fish from snapper to houndfish. The house is very clean and the ammenities are superb.Capt. Ron is a very nice gentleman. Close access to the gulf and ocean make this a great getaway!!!! I highly recommend the No Name Pub for a great pizza and keys atmosphere. They even brew there own beer!

good value and very clean

Captain Ron's house is very clean and has all of the home comforts you could require. There are three outside areas to sit and relax in (1) the screened porch (2) upstairs outside area unscreened (3) on the canal level with shaded area. Locally there is a good supermarket. I think it is excellent value for the Keys with thoughtful touches such as milk in fridge on arrival to make a cup of tea - we Brits like that. The free pass to the Bahia Honda beach was useful. It felt to us that this is a loved house. For value and cleanliness highly recommend.
