This is a lovely apartment, clean and furnished nicely. Located in a desirable neighborhood with a lot of grocery shopping and a huge COTO supermarket within a 3 block walk. The subte (subway) station is on Santa Fe Avenue -- 4-blocks away and the Alto Palermo Shopping Mall with STARBUCKS is 5 blocks away. BLOCKBUSTER is nearby and two pastry/bakeries -- a half block away. And, the buses run non-stop day and night directly on Guemes Street.
The apartment building and this apartment #3A is on the corner of Sanchez de Bustamonte at Guemes Street. So, before you are sold on all the amenities offered and book this apartment -- think twice if you are a light sleeper -- like me. Even with earplugs the loud traffic noise was unbearable. The sound from the buses, trucks and motorcycles -- day and night -- comes right through the double pane glass sliding door in the master bedroom -- the entire apartment too.
Also, all the deliveries -- every day -- for the San Jose Sanatorium located just below the master bedroom generated a lot of noise, mostly in the early morning anytime between 4 AM and 7 AM.
So, be prepared for it.
Also, I had a very unpleasant experience with the owner of the apartment who lives in San Francisco, CA, because she told me that the master bedroom was "located in the middle of the block." False! The master bedroom and the entire apartment are not even close to being located in the middle of the block.
She was rude and uncaring in her e-mail responses. Very surprising because she was polite when I talked to her on the telephone before my wife and I left New York City to go over financial arrangements and the location of the apartment on Sanchez de Bustamonte at Guemes Street, a very busy bus route!.
We checked out and searched for another apartment. Not fun in a foreign city and not being able to speak Spanish. Valuable time unnecessarily wasted when we could have taken Spanish lessons like we planned.
Owner's Response: We have never had anything but positive commentary until now. Prior to taking the apartment Mr. M asked about the noise level. I let him know that although there were dual paned windows - Buenos Aires is a bustling city and always subject to unavoidable noises. I understood this to be of major concern and so I agreed to accept a small deposit and told him to let us know when he arrived if the apartment was acceptable. I just wanted them to be happy. After staying a month, they decided to relocate.
