This comfortable apartment (380 ft2 / 35 m2) can be your home away from home while you visit Florence and Tuscany. Enjoy fascinating days of exploration from a peaceful, rural homebase like this.

Located only a 20-minute drive from Florence's historic center, you can also take advantage of free parking in nearby Bagno a Ripoli and use the convenient bus system to tour the city. Internet users have WiFi access.

The apartment is attached to a typical Tuscan 'casa colonica' (country farmhouse) occupied by the owners and provides a tranquil, private place to recover after a day of touring. The house is located on a hillside, with breath-taking views of the city of Florence and the hills surrounding Florence. The property consists of approximately nine acres (fenced) in an area protected from development and is planted in olive and fruit trees and grapevines.

Perfect for independent travelers with a car, other cities of interest within 60 miles (96 km) include Siena (40 mi/64 km), Pisa (57 mi/91 km), San Gimignano (35 mi/44 km), Lucca (52 mi/83 km), Arezzo (43 mi/69), Cortona (59 mi/94 km) and Volterra (50 mi/80 km). The Chianti wine region is also easily visited by car.

The apartment has a kitchen equipped with cook top, refrigerator, double sink, and microwave. The sitting area overlooks the beautiful Tuscan countryside. The large terrace reserved for your exclusive use can be used for sunbathing, dining 'al fresco', reading and watching the sunsets as you gaze upon the Duomo and the olive groves below.

A well-marked hiking trail at the end of the driveway includes a section of the ancient Roman road from Bologna to Rome via Florence. Additional trails cover nearby hills and offer panoramic vistas of the area.

Gated access provides security for you, your car and possessions. Reserved parking. Come and go as you please.

Access to the apartment includes approximately one-third mile (500 meters) of graveled road. A car is strongly suggested.

A Perfect Start to Our Italian Holiday

We could not have found a better location to start our holiday in Italy. Podere del Colle was the perfect setting and was just as advertised - clean, well equipped and peaceful. We always looked forward after a day of sightseeing to return to the "Podere" to enjoy a quiet moment on the terrace with a glass of wine and take in the views of the Tuscan valley and Florence. Many thanks to Fiorenza and Antonio for their warm welcome, hospitality, helpful information and delicious olive oil.
You indeed need a vehicle to reach the "Farm on the Hill" but the climb is worth it!!!! Podere del Colle was the perfect stepping off point to visit Assisi, Siena, Florence and the Tuscan region. We strongly recommend it.

Lovely Apartment overlooking Florence

My husband and I just spent a week at this property. We agree with all prior reviewers. Fiorenza and Antonio are lovely hosts and have taken great care to make this a very comfortable apartment. The kitchen was well equipped, and we enjoyed our evening meals on the terrace overlooking the city. It is very quiet and serene, set amongst the olive trees. The road up/down is a challenge, but worth the trip in every way. Bagno a Ripoli provided a wonderful supermarket for stocking up and the park/bus to Florence was very convenient. We very much enjoyed our visit to the area and our accommodations.

Tuscan charm

We spent a week in this lovely location perched on a hillside overlooking Florence and throughly enjoyed ourselves. Our hosts Fiorenza and Antonio were charming and helpful but allowed us our own privacy. The property is just as described and shown on the VRBO website. It is clean, light, airy and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed dinner and wine on the terrace after a day sightseeing. You do need a car and we took the advice of our hosts and went to Florence via a park and ride arrangement from Bagno a Riploi which was convenient and cheap. We have recommended the property to our family and friends and commend it to all.

Cosy apartment very near Florence

Beautiful site in the hills above Florence. Easy to get to town - 15 minutes by car, a little more by bus from a convenient (and inexpensive) parking lot nearby. You're away from the crowds in Florence, but you can get there easily, a wonderful balance. Lovely views, and very quiet.

Very well equipped (we cook), and Fiorenza and Enrico were very welcoming and helpful.

Lovely apartment in Tuscan hills

The property was just as described. You can see Florence in the distance and still feel that you are in the countryside. Easy day trips and just as nice to stay home. Our hosts were gracious and accomodating, and the apartment was clean and wonderfully comfortable. A very relaxing place to stay.
