Located approximately 5 miles North of Waldport just off Highway 101, the Captain's Cabin is a spacious and nicely furnished get-a-way of approximately 1150 square feet, and is decorated with our personal nautical and collectible memorabilia. The dining area offers great views of the pounding surf and is equipped with an expandable dining table and built in hutch containing an assortment of puzzles and games. A washer and dryer are located behind the sliding doors in the family room, which adjoins the kitchen. A convenient breakfast bar with 2 chairs separates the fully equipped kitchen from the family room. The living room has a 25 inch remote-controlled color TV with more than 30 cable channels, as well as a DVD player. Another TV with remote and remote-controlled VCR is located in the front bedroom. There are 3 large 4' x 6' picture windows in the living room/dining area, 2 of which provide fantastic views of the ocean.

Nearest Train: Albany at 60 Miles
Nearest Motorway: Waldport at 5 Miles

Although the beach is just across the Highway, the easiest beach access is across the highway and about 1 block north. On the way, you can see the remains of ancient Indian shell middens (mounds). The beach below the cabin has magnificent tidal pools and the clamming can be outstanding on low tides, providing the beds are not 'sanded-in' and you know the right technique. Whale watching generally occurs between late September and early June, but many of our guests report seeing whales at all times of the year, and often every day of their stay. Seals can almost always be spotted in the surf or sunning themselves during low tide on the small muffin-shaped rock located almost straight out from the cabin. Crabbing can be experienced in the Alsea Bay, just 5 miles south at Waldport. Fishing is available by deep sea charter boats out of Newport, just 12 miles north. Not to be overlooked is the Aquarium at Newport, which has already earned a reputation as one of the finest on the west coast.

  • We accept checks drawn on US banks as payment.
  • Refundable cleaning and damage deposit required: $150 or 15% of peak rate, whichever is greater

    Deposit of 1/3 total fee required to hold cabin.

    Optional linen/towel fee of $50 includes linens and towels for all guests.

    Please fill out the Registration Form linked from our web site below when sending your funds.

    Cancellations within 30 days of stay are fully refundable.

    Keys and complete directions will be sent to you within plenty of time to reach you, once payment in full is received.

    Reservations made on SHORT NOTICE should be accompanied by payment in full. Advance notice of at least 3 weeks suggested.
  • Many of our guests prefer to rent this as a HOUSEKEEPING UNIT, in which the cleaning and damage deposit is FULLY REFUNDABLE if the cabin is left in same condition as it was upon arrival. Cleaning fee is $30/hr to restore cabin to original condition, with the remainder being refunded via mail.

More Things to Do:: There are so many! First, there are many wonderful and interesting things to do at Newport, beginning with the world-class aquarium there. Then there is whale watching, Ripley's Believe it or Not, a fantastic Wax Museum. You might just want to drive down the main drag where this stuff is, and see what all is there now, in the Old Town part. Shopping is a big thing to a lot of folks, and there is definitely a lot of shopping in the old town section of Newport. Or just stroll along the beach, then take a rest on the driftwood and watch the tide roll in or out. Don't miss Cape Perpetua, a few miles south of Waldport, both the visitor center and the lookout are well worth your time!

Home away from home

This rental is so homey. You feel so relaxed. The view is breath taking. The sun sets were absolutely beautiful. The fire place makes this so cozy. I would reccommend this place to anyone who is wanting to get away and relax.

A Month on the Coast

We picked this house from offerings on the internet. We could not have made a better choice. The house was exactly as advertised and since it was a house that was lived in, it had all the amenities. We traveled up and down the coast and this is the most scenic area on the Oregon coast. We are not touristy people and wanted someplace away from the crowd. This was perfect, quiet but close to most things. The availability of wireless internet was definatly a plus and it was at a reasonable price.

We probably can't come back but would if we could.
