Monroe grew up on this farm and I have been living here for the past 36 years. We do not allow hunting so the chances of you seeing a large herd of deer are especially good every day. Monroe is retired after being a Union Carpenter for 36 years. I work in an elementary school teaching grades K - 4 how to handle themselves with a computer. We have two dogs who pretty much rule the farm. One is a Dutch Sheppard and the real boss of the family is a long-haired miniature dauchound.
This rental was part of the surrounding farm that we bought in 1992 when Monroe's father passed away.
You will be able to enjoy the peace and quiet of country living. The cottage is at the end of a dead end road and is surrounded by woods. You will be able to take a mile long walk through the woods and enjoy nature at its best. The deer roam freely on the farm. There is no hunting allowed so they pretty much have free range. The cottage is private enough to keep you away from any loud noises.
There were 4 of us, all adults, staying at Nan's place for the weekend. Nan was very accommodating and allowed us to check in early and stay late on Sunday. It was nice not to have to rush to get up and get out. The beds were comfortable however for a cottage that is advertised to sleep 6, there was not adequate couch space. As a group of 4, we were a tad uncomfortable squeezing on the couch (loveseat really) and one chair. Other than that one thing, we would defiantly return and recommend Nan's place! We loved the seclusion and the deer! It was perfect distance to many tree farms and we all had a relaxing weekend. Thanks Nan for the cabin! We hope to see you again next year!
My wife and I (and our little girl, Shih Tzu named Lola) just got home from spending a weekend at this quaint cottage. It was very comfortable and quiet. I think even our Lola enjoyed it because she seemed very relaxed. Nan and Monroe were very accommodating hosts. We will definitely look into staying here again in the summer to go kayaking in the nearby waterways.
We were a party of four adults, one infant, and two dogs, and we thoroughly enjoyed our late-summer weekend stay at Nan's vacation home. The rustic cottage has the essentials for a relaxed, close-to-nature break and is located close to the Beltzville Lake park, which is verdant, with lots of scenic trails. Nan was extremely gracious and accommodating throughout the process; she responded promptly to emails, shared tips about the area, and allowed us to leave much later than the stipulated check-out time.
Nice relaxing getaway place.. Cozy and clean cottage. Owners are very pleasant and helpful. My husband and I enjoyed this vacation very much. We would love to come again next year.
My husband and I (and dog - Libby Mae) thoroughly enjoyed our week at this getaway. We pulled in the driveway the first day and there were 8 deer in the yard. The owners are so sweet and accomodating. We enjoyed leisurely walks through the woods - a nice bonfire at night - and saw deer every day! I've never seen my husband so relaxed on a vacation. We can't wait to come back!
