Look at our WEBSITE under 'Further Details' ..... Enjoy magnificent water views from this historic townhouse in the heart of Stonington Village. Erected circa 1840, the three-story building has been renovated to fit modern standards. The house feels crisp and new yet retains its original, gracious character, including gorgeous wide plank pine floors and double hung windows. The furnishings are upscale and the beds are luxurious. Completing the package is a charming garden and two spacious decks overlooking the ocean and Connecticut's last remaining commercial fishing fleet . The owner’s took optimal advantage of the beautiful ocean views and choose an upside-down floor plan (living room, kitchen, and dining room are on the third floor). Every day the living room comes to a standstill when the sun, settling upon the water, fills it with magnificent colors. French doors lead to a fully outfitted deck where dining atop the ocean never fails to please.

This is a true 'Borough' location. The Townhouse is within walking distance to 4 popular restaurants, as well as the beach, the lighthouse, and Stonington's wonderful shops (not just antiques anymore). In fact, our favorite restaurant (less than 2 blocks away) is one of the most popular in the county. With people traveling 45 minutes to dine there, our only complaint is the long wait for a table. If you haven't visited the Borough you're in for a treat. Nestled on a small peninsula, the village had a thriving fishing industry in the 1800's; hence it boasts many grand old homes. Now, an avid sailing community, and Connecticut’s last surviving fishing village, it has the perfect balance of both year rounders and summer vacationers. Everything one needs is within walking distance; fabulous restaurants, antique stores, and clothing boutiques. The new playground can be viewed from our deck!

  • On the second floor are two lovely, sunny bedrooms each with their own full bath. The master bedroom features two sets of French doors that lead to a wonderful shady deck overlooking the garden. On the first floor are two bedrooms that share a full bath. One of the bedrooms has french doors leading to the garden, and serves as a second family room when a 4th bedroom is not needed. Two twins are used to make a King bed, we make a great effort to make them as seamless as possible. We have two extra twin beds, and one crib, upon request they can be set up in any one of the four bedrooms.

Further details for this vacation house rental in Stonington, Connecticut

This is a detached, three story 'townhouse' with a side yard. It is nestled between other smaller houses, on all but one side, and therefore has wonderful unobstructed views to the ocean. There are two flights of stairs, ten steps each. Keep in mind that they are 1800's 'style' i.e. the rise is a 1/4' steeper. Our experience is that the comfort level has more to do with stamina and physical condition than age. We have an 80 year old couple who love this house, but even a fifteen year old doesn't always like stairs.

What a wonderful time we had in Stonington
Our home away from home was the top two floors of a beautifully restored gracious town home. A beautiful staircase with sparkling planked floors leads you up to the two bedrooms and the next staircase to the living area.
The bedrooms were large and each had a fully equipped bathroom. They each had windows that opened -allowing in lots of wonderfully scented summer sea air. The master even had it's own deck.The top floor had a huge deck with great deck furniture and a view over the Stonington harbour and park. The kitchen was modern and very well equipped. The living room had comfy seats and lots of books and games for our enjoyment. The dining area had a wonderful formal colonial feel - perfect for sitting down to a meal at the end of the day.
And what days we had - strolling the quaint village, enjoying the park, having fun at the beach and attending a local fair. The village has several great restaurants, and we particularly enjoyed the "Skipper's Dock" where we spent an entire afternoon enjoying their fine food , drinks, ambience and good company.
We are looking forward to a return one day.

We are looking forward to our next stay at this charming, yet spacious and very family friendly home. It is obvious that this is a well loved home that is bright, filled with character and offers great views. We also enjoyed living like a local - walking to shops, restaurants, and the beach.

Lovely. From the beautifully appointed windows boxes that greet you, to the garden with it's historic iron gate, then through the house and the many rooms, each with its own character and view.

There is plenty of space for a group, and the services to support you, as well. There is everything you need in the kitchen (we novices successfully cooked lobster!). The bathrooms and beds are very nice. It all feels like you are staying at your friend's house, not a rental property.

We love this house and consider it our home away from home. The living space, a great room with lots of comfortable seating, a large table for festive meals and a wonderful kitchen, is the entire third floor where the views over Stonington's harbor are mesmerizing day or night. The bedrooms on the 1st and second floor each have their own special feel, but all have great mattresses (the owner prides herself on her mattresses) and good bedding. The house is clean and in great condition, considering that it is 200 years old! If good design matters to you, you will love this house - the paint colors and fabrics reveal an artists eye. At the same time, it's completely comfortable and family friendly. We love this house and plan to return as soon as possible.
