Beautiful Cottage – Suttons Bay, Michigan

Suttons Bay is a quaint harbor town in Leelanau County, just north of Traverse City on the 'little finger” of Michigan. It is truly a wonderful family vacation destination. The area continues to get national attention as one of the best summer vacation areas in the U.S. because of the activities, festivals, sights, and natural beauty it has to offer.

Suttons Bay has wonderful antique and clothing shops, fun toy stores, gift shops, a public library (with wireless Internet), parks and movies at the historic Bay Theater. You'll be ten minutes from the Leelanau Sands Casino and entertainment stage. In addition, you will be a maximum of 30 minutes from Traverse City or from any Leelanau County site such as the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, wineries, Leland (Fishtown) and Northport State Park. Traverse City offers our small 'big town' activities including Old Town Playhouse.

Area events/destinations include: rides aboard the Inland Seas Schoolship (a schooner teaching marine science), Cherry Festival in Traverse City (July 7-14, 2012), winery tours/wine tasting, horseback riding, Leland Wine and Food Festival, a day at the spa (facial, manicure, massage at Bayside Salon), biking (the Leelanau Trail runs from Suttons Bay 15 miles to Traverse City), enjoy a sunset on Lake Michigan in Leland, Manitou Island Transit (ferry service to the Manitou Islands, fishing and scuba charters, and shoreline cruises from Leland to the Manitou Islands), Traverse City Beach Bums baseball games and Interlochen Arts Festival/Academy just to name a few.

Beautiful, relaxing cottage

5 of 5
Submitted: July 14, 2009 Stayed: July 2009
We just returned form a very relaxing week in a beautiful, CLEAN and well equipped cottage. This cottage was comfortable, clean, and in a great location to the town of Sutton's Bay. It is an easy walk to th marina, to the beach, to dinner and town.

We've rented homes/cottages in many vacation towns across the US, and this was by far my favorite!

Enjoy your stay,..

Early summer vacation

5 of 5
Submitted: June 27, 2012 Stayed: May 2012
My husband, dog and I stayed at this cottage for 6 nights starting on May 31, 2012. In spite of the 36-hour rain marathon, we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. The cottage was impeccably clean, well-designed (used space very well) and in a great location. Unfortunately the water was too cold for us to enjoy but our dog loved it and I can only imagine how nice the private beach is on an 85-degree day. We were also pleased with how technologically advanced the house was (cable and perfect cell reception as well as easily accessed wi-fi). All in all, no complaints and we would definitely stay here again (in warmer weather, to enjoy the beach).
Recommended for:  Pet-friendly, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children
Owner's Response: Late May/Early June weather can be a little unpredictable but fortunately there are a number of great activities in the area for any weather. The beach is probably one of the nicest in the area so if you are looking for an ideal vacation spot, this is it.
