DITCH PLAINS - WALK TO OCEAN - GREAT WINTER GETAWAY - GREAT OFF-SEASON RATES

What a wonderful weekend I had at this absolutely charming home! I've written two reviews for this house today, both have been blown away by the internet gods, so now I'm going for the bullet-point version.

Pros:

• House is MUCH bigger than you'd think from the pictures!! Bedrooms are a good size, and there's a brand new finished basement that includes a spectacular full bathroom and a trundle bed and pull-out sofa -- a GREAT spot for a bunch of teens!

• House is SPOTLESSLY clean. Seriously. I'm a stickler for that one, and I wasn't disappointed!

• The owners, Marie Louise and Larry, are an absolute delight to work with! I've rented at least a half dozen homes in Montauk, and they are among the best people I've found to rent from! They encouraged me to use whatever was in the house (coffee, condiments, etc.), which was nice, and the house was fully stocked with toilet paper, soap, etc. (many owners request that you bring all your own supplies). The bottle of wine they left for me was a lovely touch!

• This home is cozy, comfortable and charming -- I truly felt like I was in my own home, curled up on the couch with a book, with a fire blazing. I couldn't have asked for anyplace more relaxing or serene.

• As I've mentioned, I've rented extensively in Montauk, and truly, this home has it all. Space, comfort, location (just a few minutes' walk to the ocean beach), cleanliness... and the price can't be beat.

If you choose this house, trust me... you won't be disappointed!!

I had the opportunity to stay at the house for a 10 day retreat.

It was very clean and cozy.

Close to the beach which was great for morning walks, close to town for shopping, and a short drive to the famous Montauk fishing docks.

We had a fabulous time and hope to stay at the house again in the spring.

The owner Marie is a sweetheart and very easy and enjoyable to work with.

Highly recommend the house.

We had a family re-union cook-out there one evening and had 42 people there at one time. It was a little tight, but very workable.

We loved our time here! The house was even better than what we had expected. It was very cozy, comfortable, clean and everything that it claimed to have and be. The owners were kind, helpful, gracious and very professional. So pleasant and easy to deal with. We went to the beach with our two dogs every day (huge plus! 5 min walk from the house and the dogs could roam freely). There are many places to go hiking if you are a nature lover. Esp. recommend: Point Woods Trail (Beautiful trail that takes you to the bluffs that overlook the ocean) and the Walking Dunes (really interesting trail). Also enjoyed the beaches along the Old Montauk Hwy: very pristine, long stretches of sand. Perfect for watching sunsets! We even saw a baby seal sun bathing one morning.
And we loved the food at Harvest. We would definitely come back and highly recommend this property to friends and family.
