Great quiet place to stay
The best part about this place is the location. In a very quiet neigbourhood, very little traffic, and a short walk to the beach, 4 mom/pop places to get food, and eat outdoors, and they all served excellent food, and a lot of it homemade! Also a 711 with fuel, and a McDonalds. The place called Sweet Home Waimanalo was awesome for its healthy food-they were on Diners,Drives,Dives. Keneke's has awesome shaved ice, best I had including the Matsumoto Shave Ice advertised everywhere, in my opinion. About 2 miles down the road, a grocery store, Shimas, and another food place and an ice cream place. I would describe the place as more of a cottage compared to a house, and the short walk photo shown, is a bit over the top. The walk really is down the street, down through a fenced area between the houses on the beach, and then a walk on sand to the beach. Beach is fantastic-quiet, nice sand and beautiful aqua coloured water. One drawback-too many unleashed dogs-they have signs no animals allowed, but it is not enforced. Our grandkids were very uneasy about that as were we at times. Great service - I mentioned one day that the microwave was on the fritz, but no problem we could live with it, but within hours, a new one was delivered. I mentioned to send the delivery people back with a flat screen TV, as there is only the old tube type, but to no avail,- maybe next time he said. Cottage could have been a bit cleaner and ants were a bit of a problem, but if you make sure no food or beverages are left out, no problem. Each bedroom has its own air conditioner, and they worked good. Snorkling stuff available, lawn chairs available, sand toys available, and umbrellas not necessary, as there is lots of shade on the beach. Unfortunately for us, for most of the 2 weeks we were here, it rained, was cloudy and too windy to be on the beach. Locals said it was a bit unusual the winds being so strong. Highlight for my daughter and myself was the 2 hour ATV ride we did at Kauloa Ranch-do the 2 hour not the one hour, that's a must. Shrimp trucks-they all tasted the same to us, but for an experience go to Romy's and ask for their largest prawns-they are sooo big, you can't close the box on them. Reason I say ask, is because I got duped into the smaller ones, as the photos they have on display don't show the difference. I think the bigs ones are only available steamed. Oahu is a beautiful place with beautiful people.
