Conveniently located in the Lake Champlain Islands, this well equipped vacation spot is only 45 minutes from Montreal, 40 minutes from Plattsburgh, NY and 40 minutes from Burlington, VT (you must check out the Church Street Shopping and outdoor restaurants and bars). The home features 5 bedrooms and 2 full baths, including a wonderful master bedroom suite with whirlpool tub. Outside, you can relax on your own private sandy beach or on the deck with spectacular views of the Adirondack mountains to the south and gorgeous sunsets to the west. Hear the lapping of the lake as you read a book and enjoy the sun. Catch some fish for dinner. In the fall, see the awesome foliage of the mountains reflected in the lake. Living Area: Walk into a spacious, clean, lovely living space with hard wood floors throughout. Huge dining room with dining table to seat at least 12. Living room with lots of seating and TV viewing area open to family room with wood stove and kitchen with marble counters and stainless appliances. Views of the lake from dining room, living room, master, and master bath. Landry room included.

Bedrooms: 5 Bedrooms plus sleep sofas sleep about 20. Plenty of room for all your friends and family.

A pleasant spot for a big group!

We rented the house for a week in August 2008 and were pleased with nearly every aspect of our stay. The house was far larger than we needed for our group of seven adults and two children; I think it could comfortably hold at least four or five additional people. The layout of the house is perfect for a big group, with enough room that no one felt crowded. The well-equipped kitchen was great for preparing dinners for a big group; we also used the gas grill outside. The laundry facilities were also useful and let us pack less than we would have otherwise needed.

The only drawbacks for us were that the lawn was very long when we arrived and wasn't mowed for several days. Also, the lake is higher than usual for this time of year and so the sandy beach was under water and the dock nearly floated away. Still, we were able to swim and kayak and enjoy the lake.

The house is a nice walk from the village of Alburg, which is VERY small but does have some basic groceries and shops. You'll find better grocery shopping in St. Albans, which is about 20-25 minutes away. We did day trips to Montreal, Burlington and some Quebec wineries. All were about a one-hour drive from the house, and the nearest border crossing was very easy to navigate.
