We met in Killington and got married in the area as well. We love this house and have had many great memories in it. We hope you do as well.
Jason Slavik purchased this chalet in 2004
We like not having to drive to the lifts so that everyone can come and go at their leisure. Eating lunch at home is also a nice option with the rising costs at the resort.
I wasn't a big fan of the indoor hot tub until I tried it. Now I think that it's one of the best features of the house. The windows can be opened in the room and the door closed to get the outdoor feel without having to walk through snow in barefeet to get to and from the fridge and bathroom. I love the view, but the fireplace is probably why we bought the house. It really is the centerpiece of the house and looks like the house was built around it.
Our family had a great ski week with a shorter walk than many Killington base condos to the slopes - made for easy lunch with the kids. Family friendly amenities and an indoor/outdoor hot tub made watching the kids easy. The place was super clean and looked professionally decorated. The kitchen worked for our large families and everyone had space. Adults had plenty of time to unwind apres ski with drinks and a huge fire place. The best was the view of the gondola in the morning with fresh waffles. Ladies enjoyed antiques, spa and shopping while "the boys" skied until closing. Killington is the best mountain for on and off mountain activities in the east. A short drive up to the access road put us all in the middle of all the night life. We loved it and the owners were so accomodating. We'll try again for next year and maybe a visit in the fall!

Our top preference for lodging when traveling on a ski retreat, is to find a clean private home which offers a hot tub, wood-burning fireplace, plenty of firewood, chalet/alpine ambiance, and a spacious living area without paying extortionate rent. Of course, ski-on/ ski-off is wonderful, but rarely an affordable option. This was our first visit to the Killington resort. We usually ski out west. Since I was unfamiliar with the various resort lodging options, my search involved some time and effort. I'm always skeptical whether reality matches up with the online marketing. Fortunately, this chalet did not disappoint; it matched our preferences with added charm. Another reviewer mentioned what a great value it is – I agree. The owner was prompt, pleasant to deal with, and highly informative. I did question the walking distance to the Eastern Run. For our travel party, walking down the driveway incline, then about 400 yards in ski boots and carrying skies is too much for us. Instead, we were pleased that the drive to either the Skyeship base or Bear mountain, is probably 5 minutes. It was an easy, pleasant daily trek with no parking issues. For a special treat, have lunch on the mountain at the Peak Lodge. We felt the food was delicious, although typical of ski resort pricing with limited options. You're sure to marvel the amazing views – rivaling some places out west. The ski terrain is impressive - no boredom here! We enjoyed ourselves immensely, and will certainly inquire about renting this charming chalet when we return!
To call this a "ski on/ski off" is completely misleading. It states, "4 houses away from Great Eastern trial"...Yes, It may be 4 houses away but I'd be better off driving to the parking lot because the walk would be closer. It is 1/3 of a mile walk, not including the really steep driveway.
Not sure how that qualifies as "ski on/ski off"...
Also, no notification of NOT having cable TV! There was an email I received about "...the upstairs br tv only plays dvd because it is not hooked up to the cable..." Making a reference to the rest of the house tv's being hooked up to the cable. Again, misleading! There was NO cable tv!
Lastly, charged 117.00 for a broken box spring mattress that the owner claimed was broken by kids "jumping off the top bunk"...OUTRAGEOUS!!!
This house was NOT what it was described to be!
We had a great time with the house. Very comfortable, spacious and all necessary amenities. Ski in/Ski off Great Eastern trail...Will return!
For the location and space offered by this house, the price was phenomenal. This chalet exceeded all expectations and was perfect for my party's 3 night stay, with two days of skiing. Accommodations were immaculate, and the hot tub was the best possible treatment for post-skiing soreness. This home is a prime example of what a "ski chalet" should look and feel like.
I stayed at this house with a group of friends over a long weekend this past January. The home is very nice, has a real "ski house" feel, and is accurately described. The owner was very friendly, responsive and detailed. The house is larger than the pictures make it out to be. The hot tub (and its room) was fantastic, not to mention convenient- we typically prefer renting a house with an outdoor hot tub, but the hot tub has its own separate room, where you can open windows and get that nice outside air. As far as the ski-on-ski off goes, you have about a 5 minute walk from the house to the Great Eastern trail - really nothing difficult at all. It may not be as close as some of those other ski-on-ski offs you see along Great Eastern, but considering the prices of those houses, I was very happy with our location.
There are very few issues I could think of, the house overall is great. The main issue has to be the driveway. It is very steep, and can be treacherous after a snow fall. Do not try going to the very top of the driveway unless there is no snow on the ground. (To be fair to the owner, he was very clear about the driveway, so we knew what to expect!) The upstairs bedroom is in a bit of an awkward location, so choose a room downstairs if you prefer some more peace and quiet. Last, a few items around the house were a little worn, but nothing that took away from anything.
I rank this house somewhere between a 4.5 and a 5 in my head, only real reason for any points off would be the driveway. Giving it a 5 though because of the overall value, and how great of a time we had. Would certainly come back!!
