Uvita House Rental Photos and Description

2 bedroom/2 bath Casa sleeps 7; 1 bedroom/1 bath Casita sleeps 2.

Casa Miramar is a very private, comfortable Costa Rican getaway located a cool 800 feet above the Pacific Ocean, directly above the Whale's Tail in the Marino Ballena National Park and the thriving town of Uvita. This spacious home sleeps five comfortably in two bedrooms (one with a king bed, the other with a queen and a single), and the living room has a queen-sized sofa bed that can sleep two more. The property also offers a secluded cottage/casita which has one bedroom with a full bed, one bathroom with an outdoor solar shower, a small but well-equipped kitchen, and large veranda with an incredible view. Just a brief walk between the two, both the casa and the casita provide wonderful privacy.

Other than the weekly visit of the gardener and housekeeper (included in rates) you have utter peace to lull away the days in your veranda hammock enjoying the stunning ocean and mountain/valley views, or dip in the inviting pool in sublime privacy. The Bali shade hut is excellent for reading, napping, or gazing at the hypnotic scenery. Casa Miramar is a birdwatcher's paradise and you'll be amazed as large birds catch the draft spirals and soar overhead. Resident hawks, falcons, and toucans perch in nearby trees and you may see a Morpho butterfly skip along the garden flowers. Mornings are filled with birdsong as you enjoy your first cup of coffee and those same birds will serenade you during spectacular sunsets. Though Casa Miramar is not on a 'monkey highway', you will hear the howlers in the distance and occasionally see the white faced monkeys in the area. It's not unusual to encounter sloths and other small animals in the neighborhood.

For those needing technology, Casa Miramar is equipped with wifi and a pay-as-you-go mobile phone. There is a small flat-screen television hooked to the house's library of movies, television series, and music for rare moments spent inside.

Located along the paved Costanera Highway, Uvita is 20km south of the colorful surfer town of Dominical and 16km north of restaurant-filled Ojochal. Casa Miramar is a perfect headquarters for jumping to the Osa Peninsula by sea or by road, and for exploring points north or inland. You'll find that friendly Uvita is a thriving village with all the amenities for a comfortable stay. Choose from a variety of sports and sightseeing tours including a 'not to miss' horseback tour through the jungle to a waterfall followed by a gallop along the ocean.

Uvita has both a rustic feel and all the necessary modern conveniences. Still very much a village, you'll find a good variety at the two main grocery stores, a gas station, banks, a medical and dental clinic, a weekly farmers market, and plenty of wifi - all mixed with the sight of locals riding on horseback down the street. There is a wide variety of restaurants in the area, ranging from fabulous gourmet to delicious roadside ceviche. Locals and expats mingle comfortably in a friendly atmosphere that also features tour guide services, unspoiled beaches, and much more.

Casa Miramar's unbeatable views and privacy come thanks to its mountainside setting so it should be noted that like many places in Costa Rica, a 4x4 vehicle is required to navigate an unpaved road that can be steep and twisty at times.

Pristine, private and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely alternative to resorts and hotels in a beautiful part of Costa Rica. The house, pool and grounds are all excellent and well-maintained. The bedrooms are in separate parts of the house so are very private if two couples want to share. The road up is a 4X4 challenge...steep and unpaved...but arriving back at Casa Miramar makes it all worth it! We enjoyed every minute.

If you're looking for tourist destination with lots of amenities, this is not the spot. If you're looking for lovely empty beaches, local flavor and wonderful nature and wildlife, you can't do better than this area of Costa Rica. The newly paved road along the coast will increasingly bring development....come now!

loved the house and the whales tail view

  • 5 of 5

we were there for the month of nov. the house, pool, view and wildlife were all so great. birds, monkeys, hummers, loved the pics we took. only negative to the whole month, the road to get there. do not do it at nite the first time. it is a 10 minute drive up the steep mt. side, even with a lg. 4 wheel drive. the directions and pics are so old, need to invest in a few signs at turns. also road gets very slippery and big holes. need to plan ahead on trips up and down the mt.! the house again was as pictured and we loved it. thanks for a truly great month!!

A beautiful treasure featuring incredible scenery

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I spent four nights and five days at Casa Miramar with my daughter and her husband. I slept in the master bedroom and used the air-conditioner at night. My friend had the second bedroom and was very pleased to have her own bathroom. My daughter and son-in-law slept in the casita. We had our breakfast looking out on the beautiful scenery that surrounds Casa Miramar and watched the incredible sunsets from the large patio of the casita. The view of the ocean and the sandbar formation called the Whale's Tale were spectacular. The house is nicely decorated reflecting he warmth and caring of the owners. It is very clean and well-maintained. There are many small touches that give the place a homey feel. The furniture is very comfortable and well-coorinated. We enjoyed most days just resting, relaxing, swimming in the pool and then going out to dinner at local restaurants whose cuisines rivaled those of New York City. This is a delightful treasure hidden 800 ft. up a mountain. I was thrilled to see my first toucan! Next time, I hope to see more.

I still see the view from the Casa in my dreams!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I had the vacation of our lives this past August at the Casa. Incredibly beautiful, spacious and welcoming, the Casa was the oasis of our dreams. You can't beat the unbelievable view from the casa-every morning it took our breath away. Also, not to be missed are the sunsets, not only for the views but for the array of wildlife that appear and surround the casa. There is a family of 6 Tucans, a pair of parrots, a Crested Guan, diverse butterflies, frogs, lizards, spiders (the very non-dangerous, incredible to watch in action kind) we had a whole zoo in the backyard! A prime spot for photographers! We greatly enjoyed using the large kitchen to cook elaborate meals (the grocery stores in Uvita are well stocked and open late!)and outdoor seating area to sit and enjoy them at. On a rainy evening, we also enjoyed Rebecca's well stocked movie collection in the comfy living room.

The town of Uvita is extremely welcoming, everyone is so kind and there are three beautiful, very diverse beaches within miles of the Casa. The casa was our sanctuary after days of traveling to Arenal and the Cloud Forest. (A days journey, but well worth it!) while we had a wonderful time exploring Costa Rica, we were so happy to come back to our own little paradise at the Casa. Perfectly private, with the right blend of rustic and modern touches (the wi-fi was handy in researching local wildlife and booking tours) I can't imagine having spent our vacation anywhere else. It will forever be the vacation to top!!

We Love Casa Miramar

  • 5 of 5

WE love traveling to Costa Rica and the Southern Zone - Uvita is our favorite, The natural beauty and unspoiled areas of the zone keep us coming back. Casa Mirimar has been our repeated choice for lodging.

The location and views are amazing. Your home is clean and inviting. I just cannot say enough. We have eight year old twins that love the pool and watching the wildlife. The close proximity of the beaches and grocery make Casa Miramar a vacation destination in itself.

WE Love Your Home!

Casa Miramar

  • 4 of 5

we enjoyed this home. One thing couples with kids should know is that the two bedrooms are quite separate and do not adjoin so when you lock up at night you cannot go into the rest of the home without completely unlocking. We have young kids so this was a bit tough. Also water supply was an issue, we were repeatedly asked to conserve water which made us worry we might run out of water, this did not happen but worrying it would was a stressor. View is incredible and privacy and value of this rental are great. House could have used more ceiling fans in kitchen and bath rooms to assist in air circulation. Great animal watching and kids loved the pool too. Owners were helpful and friendly. Road definitely requires 4wd and some courage and guts. Casita has an awesome view and would be great for a couple.

Playa Uvita
Car: necessary

The town of Uvita is located along 'Costa Ballena', on the Pacific Coast south of Quepos and north of Golfito. Playa Uvita is the home of Costa Rica's only marine sanctuary, Ballena Marine National Park. The park is named for the whales that are often sighted close to shore. From Casa Miramar you can see the spit of land that's formed at low tide and composes the perfect outline of a whale's tail. Convenient to Uvita you can easily get to canopy tours, miles of beautiful beaches, river rafting, waterfalls, rain forest, horseback riding along the ocean and so much more - or, just enjoy the awesome ocean/river/mountain view from right where you are - Casa Miramar. Especially notable is the great surfing just minutes away. Also available are nearby language schools for those wanting a bit more from their cultural experience.

Other Activities: House overlooks Ballena Marine National Park, Costa Rica's only marine sanctuary
