Great home for families with young children

Every year my family rents a house for the week of Thanksgiving in the Outer Banks. This house was our favorite by far of any we have stayed in over the years. The house was extremely clean and very well maintained, but the thing we liked the most is that this house has a lot of personality (you can tell this right away from the captain out front), this made the rental feel like home for us for the week and not just a place to stay.
The house was a very easy walk to the beach and I loved hearing the waves from the deck! We have young children and really appreciated the sandbox in the surprisingly large fenced in backyard, we were pleasantly suprised to see that the pool had a second fence around it allowing the children to play safely in the back. Our boys loved the bunk bed room and were thrilled with the wide variety of movies available. They loved the childrens books in the bunk room as well. The loft above the family room has a view of the ocean and the kids loved having a special place they could go play and "spy" on the adults.
We cooked a full thanksgiving dinner for 7 and were pleased to find that the kitchen was very well stocked with every pot, pan, and utensil we could possibly need. We are big coffee and tea drinkers and the owners thoughtfully had a fresh bag of coffee and some seasonal teas waiting for us.
The community center was another wonderful surprise! They have a large indoor heated pool, raquetball courts, tennis courts, a playground, large fitness center and even books to check out! In the summer, they also have a large outdoor pool at the ocean (in addition to the private pool in the backyard).
We would definitely rent this house again and would highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Wow, what a review! Thank you, Cooksville Mom. Time seems to slow down so beautifuly in November on the Outer Banks. This gives us so much more time to share precious moments with our family's.
Our lives are so busy these days, with work and growing young family's, that sometimes we just need to get away and reconnect, to remember what really means the most in our lives.
I called Cooksville Mom, during the week, to see how things were going, her reply was, "my biggest decision today was, shall I go in the hot tub on the deck, or walk to the rec center, and swim in the heated pool". Now, doesn't that just say it all. There is no better gift, then being with your family with out a care in the world, where little things mean the most, and time doesn't exist.
I am from Pennsylvania, and can't believe how mild it is during the winter months on the island. In January, I sometimes run out of the house for a minute or two, in my bare feet and Pj's, you just cant do that in Pa during the winter. I will still sit on the hammock swing with my morning coffee, if it is mild. Fifty degrees is unbareably cold for the locals, but for a Pa. girl...it is spring time!
Thank you, I will never stop letting you all know how grateful I am, that you have made our little piece of paradise, your home away from home...Thank you, Thank you.
