We are conveniently located on the 8th hole of the beautiful De Anza Country Club, which, for the first time ever, has now been opened to the public, and thus to our guests!
There are stunning mountain and desert views from every room in our home, as well as from the spa, pool, and our large, completely private, exquisitely landscaped backyard.
The whole house has a light, airy, comfortable feeling with many large windows and glass doors framing beautiful desert vistas. Brand new mostly travertine tile floors are found in the foyer, kitchen, dining area, bathrooms hallways, and annex bedrooms, with plush new carpeting in the living room and main home bedrooms.
The private 40' pool in the back has decorative fountains and in-pool lights as well as an attached spa. The exterior of the house is lushly landscaped with palms, cacti, olives, and several varieties of citrus trees. The spa is perfect for a warm soak or use the jets for a post biking or hiking massage. Solar heat for the pool and spa is included in the rental fee and is generally sufficient for heating the pool from March through September. Gas heat is available at cost with an additional security deposit. If you are interested using the pool or spa with gas heat, please let us know when you inquire about rental. **Note: Gas heat will be unavailable from mid-December through January 15, 2015 as we upgrade our pool heating equipment.**

We are retired with 3 children and five grandchildren. We bought and remodeled this home for them, and as an eventual retirement location for ourselves. Our goal was to create a quiet, luxurious base camp from which to enjoy the hiking, biking, golf and warmth the three generations of our family all love. Until we start hogging the place for ourselves all winter, we've been renting to families and groups, large and small (from 1 to 14 so far).
Cindy purchased this house in 2007
Borrego is Palm Springs without the people. Almost the same today as 40 years ago. Best winter hiking and biking anywhere, nearest stoplight 50 miles away, yet only 1-2 hours to everything San Diego, Palm Springs, and even LA have to offer. We loved it when we mooched off my aunt when we were in grad school, our kids loved it when we visited grandpa 20 years ago, and we fly here all the way from Maryland because we still love the quiet beauty of the Anza-Borrego desert, and the comfort of dry warmth and our beautiful new home when it is ice cold in the Maryland mountains.
Our big corner lot on a non-through street guarantees unobstructed views of the mountains, golf course, and desert. Our new addition, built to accommodate 11 kids, spouses, and grand kids, now allows us to offer you our home as either a luxurious 3 bedroom 2 bath space suitable for a couple or small group; or, with the new annex, as a huge 5 bedroom 3 bath estate that can sleep up to 16.
We held our annual Thanksgiving week get-together at this beautiful, spacious, light-filled home across the street from the DeAnza golf course. We had room for 5 couples and 3 kids plus a few extras came over for Thanksgiving dinner. The house is well-equiped and maintained. While we experienced problems heating the pool, the owners promise to repair and are great to work with. We rented bikes downtown and enjoyed excursions to see the desert sculptures.
My wife and I spent two weeks here at the end of the "off" season. Don't be worried by stories of damage in Borrego Springs and in this DeAnza neighborhood by floods this summer (2013). There is no damage to this house or yard, and all the streets and almost all businesses in Borrego Springs have been cleaned up.
The house was perfect for us - lots of space (much more than two people need), lots of big windows to let in light, wonderful pool area, fun kitchen, excellent neighborhood for walks along residential streets and through the golf course. (The courses in Borrego close for a few weeks at the end of summer in order to get their winter stand of grass planted, so be sure to check dates if you are a golfer.)
The online descriptions are accurate, the house was very clean, everything worked well. The A/C had no trouble keeping us cool. The photos are accurate, although the wide-angle lens makes the landscaped yard look bigger than it really is. But it is still quite spacious and a beautiful backdrop to the house and pool.
Cindy was easy to work with in scheduling and then re-scheduling our vacation, and she gave us a good price for the off-season. The damage deposit came back promptly. We would gladly work with her and stay here again.
Our travel hint - on previous trips to Borrego Springs we have not enjoyed the...shall we say "vigorous" winds of the spring wildflower season. September and October are the least windy months, and you have the town almost to yourself until the second or third weekend in October.
Spent a week here with my family of five. Very nice accommodation and the secluded yard/pool area is outstanding. Heating the pool with propane is quite expensive, but we just heated the hot tub for a few hours a day and enjoyed it immensely at night. The hot tub, the stars and an adult beverage made for real holiday evenings. Heating the hot tub cost about $400 for the week, but was well worth it.
No hassle, fine accommodation. I highly recommend this place for a medium to larger group.
