|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
The apartment is located in Chueca. Read up about it on any website and you'll discover that apart from being a stones throw from the center of Madrid - Sol, Chueca itself has great, restaurants, bars, shopping, nightlife and sightseeing all within 10 mins walk of the apartment. You really don't need a car to get around. The metro, bus and train system in Madrid works like clockwork and there are always plenty of taxis. If you want to wander out of Madrid there is also very good and cheap public transport available.
Only the best is good enough for my renters! The apartment is not huge but at least you have a bedroom, a good size living room and well supplied kitchen, which is already more than you'll get in a hotel. A small grocery store is two doors away on Calle Hortaleza 39 where you can buy all sorts of additional supplies. The apartment has cable TV and Broadband with WiFi internet access.
Please note that this apartment is on the top (5th) floor and the building does not have a lift. Being on the top definitely has it's advantages, it is very quite. Although the apartment is on a busy street the apartment is quiet because it is at the back of the building and hence does not get the street noise, you have the perfect combination of being in the center of the bustle but being able to switch off from it when you wish to get some peace and quiet. The apartment is 'Exterior' which means that it gets natural light and sun shine. In Madrid there are many 'Interior' apartments that do not have natural light since the windows look into the interior patio of the building.
You'll see I've entered a lot of reviews, my renters always book through my own website and hence they enter their reviews there. Ask me for my website address and take a look for yourself - more pics, more info and the reviews are verified authentic...
This pic was taken in Mota del Cuervo, a couple of hours drive from Madrid in the area where Cervantes set his Don Quijote stories, we went windmill spotting - and we saw lots and lots and lots of them! We love to travel and have been to and lived in many places, we know what is important when one travels so we hope at our apartment you will have that unique travel experience!
Ranpal purchased this apartment in 2006
I love the city, i live out in the country and sometimes just fancy a night out without the hassle of an hours drive afterwards... This neighbourhood is oozing with energy (don't come to Madrid for peace and quiet!) it's where my guests want to be when they come to Madrid because this area will give you the typical Madrid experience.
You'll be in the heard of Madrid able to make the most of seeing the beautiful architecture while out and about simply exploring...
The description of the property is extremely accurate. The apartment is a small one bedroom in very nice shape that is very comfortable for two adults. You could squeeze a couple of more in, but I think it would be tight. It has lovely roof top views of Madrid. It is in an excellent location, walking distance to many of the major attractions. A very good value. If climbing stairs are an issue, this is not the place for you. The description is very clear - many stairs. Really. If Internet is important to you, the WIFI is excellent. The kitchen is well stocked and they even provide you with some of the basics like coffee, olive oil, salt and pepper. The owners make themselves available if needed to answer any questions by phone or internet. I would stay there again!
Ranpal was excellent to deal with, he responded to questions promptly and even e-mailed us a map so we could walk to the apartment from Atocha. The apartment is in a great location, we loved the area and it is within walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Most importantly, the apartment is very quiet; even though the streets are bustling all night long on the weekend, we slept soundly. The kitchen was great, outfitted with everything we needed as we love to shop locally for food and cook. WiFi was fast and reliable and an information binder is left for guests with clear instructions with regard to the apartment and there was travel information as well. I highly recommend this apartment.
This apartment is very well located in central Madrid - close walking distance to the main attractions and parks, as well as to public transportation. The location for key pick-up was not directly across the street as described, and due to some unevenness of building numbering, it took us a bit of time to find. Then access was not a problem. Map books in the apt were a useful feature for those needing that information. Our discomfort with the apartment was related to its crowded, scruffy nature (with the exception of the kitchen which, though small, was clean and well-stocked). For a small apartment, the furniture is large, leaving little space to move about or place bags (and we only had 2 backpacks to worry about). The sleeping conditions caused us to leave one night early and move to a hotel. The bedroom was hot with no room to place the available fan. Bedding was minimal and very worn (pilled thin sheet, old polyester duvet, and only two very thin pillows - not at all what the photos showed). For busy, weary travellers, sleep comfort is important. Regularly refreshed bedding would be a worthwhile improvement to this accommodation. A fresh coat of paint would help the many marked up walls. And a thorough cleaning of the bathroom was in order.
Additional note: We stayed in several different apartment settings over the course of our trip. Despite its location (which was the reason for our choosing it) we would not recommend this one.
My wife and I stayed here for our first leg of our honeymoon. Great location, the owner left a TON of material for us concerning what to do in the area, recommendations, etc. We really enjoyed our stay here. The apartment itself was everything we needed. The owner fully informed us of what to expect, and there were no surprises. We will definitely look into staying here again in the future.
The apartment was in the perfect location! My fiancée and I had never been to Madrid before so we really lucked out on the location of the apartment. It was a few minute walk from 2 different metros, tons of great shopping, and restaurants/ bars. We did a 3 week Eurotrip through France, Spain, and Portugal and Madrid was our favorite city. I would come back to this apartment and recommend it to anyone.
The apartment is prefect for 3 people and is within walking distance of major museums, plazas and The Metro. With a small store right across the street we were able to get some drinks and snacks. The nightclub next door seems a little interesting but you can't hear any noise in the apartment. If you don't mind walking up 87 steps at the end of the day then this place may suit you. Its in a area the may cater to the LGBT lifestyle and that's cool. But one thing we need to do was stock up on bathroom necessities. Maybe I'm spoiled from hotels and other places I've stayed but with a half a roll of Toilet paper, No Hand/bath soap or shampoo we needed to go shopping. The owner did say he would go get these things but it was easier for us just to go to the store. Again the owner is willing to help you in anyway. We followed the directions for the TV but could never get it to work. It was kinda nice not having any TV for a week. But the apartment is clean and friendly. So if you can manage the stairs. Its a good place to stay and enjoy both the day life and nightlife or Madrid.
This property is ideally located within easy walking distance of the palace, the Prado and many other tourist attractions in the old part of Madrid. We walked everywhere and did not use the subway although it was easily accessible also. This apartment does require climbing a lot of stairs to get to its 5th floor location so be sure you are able to handle that challenge along with carrying up whatever luggage you may have. There is no elevator. The owner was very helpful and checked in with us by phone after our arrival and helped us with any questions that we had. The pictures & listing description accurately reflect what is in the apartment and the information booklet left in the apartment was very helpful also.
