All the excitement and entertainment of South Florida is just outside the door but inside Casa Calma is your own private tropical retreat. This waterfront property is located in the quiet community of finger islands known as Citrus Isles where there are huge canopy trees and our property has 11 coconut trees as well as a half dozen other types of palm. Enter the property to the brick circle driveway with lush landscaping all enclosed by a 10 foot fichus hedge. The private back garden has brick and wood patios and the Jacuzzi is just a few steps from the french doors leading to one of the bedrooms. The dock, equipped with Adirondack chairs, extends 6 feet over the canal and has a lovely view of the sunset over the water. Inside, the floors are bamboo hardwood with newly carpeted bedrooms. The kitchen, with stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops opens to the entertainment area with bar and glass top table.

Centrally Located in Fort Lauderdale: The property is very centrally located being within a couple miles of downtown, Las Olas and the Riverfront/Himmarshee Village areas, in one direction, and a few miles to the beach in another. Also, close to all major highways if you want to explore the Everglades or visit Miami's South Beach. The airport is 7 minutes away, the beach 10 and Himmarshee Village is 5. It would take about 20 minutes to get to Miami Beach's South Beach and you could be in the Florida Keys in an hour but don't try either during rush hour. Many guests make an overnight visit to Disneyworld and other Orlando attractions and can make it there is less than 3 hours. Tampa is about 4 hours drive. This property is very conveniently located, by car, near most of what make South Florida famous.

Your Private Tropical Paradise: Once you enter the front door of Casa Calma you will understand its meaning: Tranquility House. The bamboo hardwood floors and colorful decor will immediately remind you that YOU ARE ON HOLIDAY!, take off your shoes, put your feet up and watch the sun set over the water. The back garden, on two levels, uses wood and brick patios and decks along with a wide variety of tropical plants to woo you into a state of relaxation that may cause you to rearrange your plans to leave the house at all. It's happened before!

Very good route description, it is easy to find and on an excellent location. You do need a car, but that is a given in America. The malls, the shoppes on Las Olas, the restaurants, the groceriestores and even the beach were ALL closeby. The house was clean and well-maintained, we loved the jacuzzi and the grill, and especially the outside deck!
And Jim was very helpfull in everything.
We will definitly be back!

Due to circumstances we did cancel our summer vacation to Brazil. So last minute, we did make a reservation for CASA CALMA, and within 24 hours we came "HOME" away from home.
It was unbelievable that at last we all had a great vacation.
Jim was always available when needed, and everything went smooth during our stay. Not even "IKE" could blast our vacation away.
So we defintely will return back once to this "paradise" which is very central located for shopping and all other activities.
All appliances where working properly, and we enjoy the jacuzzi and deck very much incl. the bbq.

Casa Calma

The property is in a good location but needs some updates. 2nd TV isn't connected to cable, not enough lights, some things don't work. Some maintenance needs to be done. Listed as suitable for elderlay and infirm but questionable with step down from kitchen to dining room.
Owner's Response: TV in 2nd bedroom VHS/DVD only: TRUE.
Never had a complaint about the amount of lights. Bought 2 standing tree lights for these guests.
New jacuzzi heater was in warranty repair during part of visit, don't know of other "things that don't work" or "maintenance to be done"
There is a 6" step down from kitchen to entertainment area. Have had elderly and even woman recovering from open heart surgery with no problems.

Have maintenance contracts for all appliances. Jacuzzi has new pump and heater. New A/C unit. Contractors for lawn/landscape maintenance and pest control.
If maintenance needs to be done, it is.

Après un premier contact courtois et chaleureux avec Leticia and Jim, nous avons découvert à notre arrivée un endroit de paradis, l'exotisme de la végétation, le lagon à l'arrière ainsi que le spa et patio complètent à merveille l'intérieur spacieux et de très bon goût. À voir ou à revoir...
