Beautiful House But Beware...

Date of Stay: August 2008
We stayed at this home the first week in August. The house is lovely with wonderful amenities. The patio/pool/barbeque area in back is truly awesome. On the downside, the audio/visual set up is not well-coordinated and definitely not user-friendly. But more importantly, we were stunned that the owner withheld a portion of our security deposit for things that we never did! We had no small children in our group and we were accused of leaving gum stuck to the countertops, trash under the beds and a urine-soaked mattress, among other infractions! When we spoke to the owner about this, he told us he believed his cleaning person who had reported these issues to him. We certainly would never stay here again after this experience. Never mind the fact that you will pay 25% more than any other rental in town and don't forget to bring your own toilet paper, soap and trash bags as required by the owner!!
Owner's Response: Yuki from Colorado had already checked out when I received a e-mail from my cleaning team (two sisters) who have cleaned for me for 4 yrs. Stating... "The home is in the worst shape we've ever seen. Downstairs mattress is terribly soiled. Trash everywhere" So I deducted aprox. $350 for the extra time it took to dry out and sanitize the bedding issue. Four weeks later the unit was replaced at a cost of 873.48... Was contacted by the the renter who argued his case. I promised him that I would once again, look into the issue & re interview my cleaning team. One of my gals works at the local hospital on the cleaning staff. Her sister cleans my house and nine other homes during the week. Both are Mothers. Both are Grandmothers. Both are experienced cleaning professionals. And both are very familiar with bedding issues. With results in hand & in order to save the tenant any embarrassment, I open the conversation with an offer to pay back the tenants half of their deducted deposit. Before they accepted, they wanted to know what the cleaning ladies had said... The guest was upset that the staff had once again confirmed and stood by their initial statement. So, they declined my offer of reconciliation and decided to write negitive feed back instead.
It upsets me that I find myself having to defend myself, my home, as well as my cleaning staff regarding said feedback...
In my opinion, renting is a privilege granted by kindly people who open their homes to others.. These people have rented extensively before. They would never dream of leaving any property in any condition other than the way they found it... By opening their homes to others, they fully understand the risk involved & respect other homes as if it were their own. That's how our family rented for years.
And yes, you do pay a premium to stay at my home; Please understand you have selected the very best the area has to offer... I look forward to your business. Thank you.
