Guestbook comments from the owner
this wonderful home and location. 12 of us have enjoyed our week stay enough to quit our jobs and move to Tahoe. Just a pipe dream but we know we'll be back here soon. The house was great. Big bedrooms allowed extra sleeping for the little ones, and the separated areas gave us all privacy and space. Enjoying the deck, pool table, hot tub enabled us to just hang out with each other. The meadow behind the house became a playground for the kids while the adults sat on the deck. We had planned on more activities but found just staying at the house a pleasure. We were close to everything...but really enjoyed the hiking in the neighborhood. It was nice not to have to drive anywhere. A true vacation home. We all felt very relaxed and rested upon our return home. Thank you for allowing us to share in your beautiful home.

I bought this for size and location. All the bedrooms are large, and the neighborhood is quiet surrounded by great hiking trails.

When you walk into the home, you'll feel like you're in a mountain lodge. Plaid carpet, stone wall fireplace, comfortable mountain furniture. A nice open living area all connecting to the outdoors where there is a huge meadow. You'll feel away from it all here, but close to downtown Kings Beach, and Northstar Ski Resort. Kings Beach has some GREAT lake front restaurants days to hang out, and evening dinners. The beach's are spectacular here and some secluded. There is always something happening at the State Park.

At times I'll stay here and never go anywhere. There are easy walking trails all around the neighborhood. AND whether you bring your dog or not, there are neighbor's dogs that will walk with you. Its super quiet, both day and night which I love, and sitting in the hot tub and watching the wildlife without moving is good entertainment.

WHAT A VACATION!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I rented this house for one week in June. The owners are extremely accommodating and responsive - the dryer was leaking and the property manager was there in 10 minutes after our call, and then called a professional who fixed it.

The house is perfect for families and groups! It is spacious so that you do not feel as though you are on living on top of each other. There are two full floors and three full bathrooms and a 1/2 off of living area! The bottom floor is the main floor and the master bedroom is perfect! The porch was just what we needed every night - unless we were by the fireplace roasting hotdogs and s'mores! We saw so many shooting stars, the kids were amazed. The hot tub was perfect even in the summer - in the winter it must be heaven. The risky group swam in the lake and said it was perfect - I would love to spend time renting a boat on it - but the lake is was great just looking at it!

Lake Tahoe in the summer is gorgeous. We had four kids with us ages 4, 7, 9, and 14 and they went to bed exhausted every night from all the fun activities! Biking, fishing, swimming , hiking, ...it was perfect! The house is right next to a hiking trail as well...I saw two deer and a skunk!

Fly-fishers - my husband caught many, many fish in the Truckee River! Rainbow, Brook and Brown trout. He was out there all day long having the time of his life!

Thank you for a great time.

A REUNION TO REMEMBER

  • 5 of 5
My extended family had a reunion last weekend and had the opportunity to rent 3 of Sandy's homes. We wanted well appointed homes that were comfortable and had enough room to spread out a bit with the kids. Its always a little scary to be in charge of planning an event for so many, and booking based on pictures from a website. Not only was the discription and pictures accurate, there were so many nice features not listed, that my family is still giving me "kudos" for my choice in homes. It couldn't have worked out better. We
all enjoyed each house and spent time having meals together. We had plenty of kitchen supplies, along with bbq, nice decks and large living area's. It was nice not having to get in the car to visit…they are all within a block of each other and when not walking to visit, we really enjoyed the proximity to the hiking trails. These homes have trails the are easy and spectacular with sights and smells of the forest. Pinecone collecting became our hobby, and bird guessing became our passion. After a week of been here, we all surviving so much family and I think the houses had a lot to do with it. It was a pleasure to stay here and look forward to staying again.

SWEET HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Sweet Home Away From Home
We rented this home for a gathering of our friends for my husband's 40th birthday party. We absolutely fell in love with the place from the moment we drove up. Beautiful, clean and spacious. We loved the big vaulted ceilings and the open living-dining-kitchen. So wonderful for entertaining. The pool table kept the guys entertained for hours, while the girls soaked in the big hot tub. The owner was helpful, responsive and really attentive to our needs. We can't wait to come up again during ski season with our kids and other families to enjoy again. We will be back for sure!

A LAST MINUTE VACATION!

  • 5 of 5
Twelve of us girls left the hustle and bustle of San Francisco and headed North for a weekend getaway in Lake Tahoe. This house was PERFECT for our Girls Weekend! The house was clean, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed for dinners together in the dining room. The house is perfectly located in the middle of hiking trails and its not a far drive from all the activities in Kings Beach with all the local shops and restaurants. We enjoyed eating breakfast in the on the deck, relaxing in the hot tub after hiking the trails and sitting in front of the fireplace at night. I highly recommend this house for large groups of friends or families since there are several rooms and lots of space. We hope to be back next year!

GREAT SUMMER ADVENTURE

  • 5 of 5
Our group of ten had a wonderful stay at the "Alpenhaus". We were there to celebrate three birthdays and a wedding anniversary. There were two 70+ year olds, two ~50 year olds, two early 40-year olds and our 12-year old son, and 3 good friends. It accommodated us all well, and we really got the full Tahoe experience.

The home is well laid out, functional and very comfortable. The pictures depict it to a "T." There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms downstairs , with the kitchen, dining and living areas. The kitchen is a cook's delight, with everything you could possibly want at your fingertips. Then 3 more LARGE bedrooms upstairs and two bathrooms. The deck, which is off the living/dining room, is the ideal spot for morning coffee and evening cocktails. There is also a nice deck in front of the house with views of the mountains. And, the hot tub was heaven. It is BIG enough for 8 of us to sit comfortably. Even during the summer it was a great place to end the day, and/or start the day with coffee. Everything was incredibly clean.

During our week long stay, we golfed twice, rode bikes around the neighborhood, went into Kings Beach twice (pizza at Lanza's is a must) spent a day in Tahoe City shopping, went white water rafting on the Truckee River to River Ranch. , and ventured again into Emerald Bay for a day of hiking and picnicing. And we must put in a plug for the PDQ market in Tahoma that makes their bread and has incredible sandwiches. We wish we had found it at the beginning of our stay.

The location of this home is ideal The neighbors - and all of their dogs - are low key and friendly. We met several very nice folks during the evening and morning walks. We were even invited to join one of the neighbors little cocktail gatherings.

We would definitely recommend this home for anyone looking for comfortable, well-equipped space in the Lake Tahoe area. It's clear that the Owner takes great pride in the home and the experience they c

PERFECT LOCATION, GREAT GIRLS GETAWAY!

  • 5 of 5
We rented AlpenHaus to celebrate a ladies adventure getaway. It very was important for us to have a well-appointed house in a convenient location where we could experience all that North Lake Tahoe has to offer.
The house itself was perfectly appointed. When we arrived the lights were on and everything was clean and awaiting us. There were ample bedrooms for everyone (most rooms have a Queen or King bed with an additional single and can sleep up to three), the kitchen was very appointed for all our cooking needs, and the pool table and hot tub were added benefits for evening time.
It's a great location just above King's Beach where you can easily get to the store and enjoy local activities and area favorites: hiking, the lake, mini golf, and traditions like The Old Post Office (classic breakfast spot). Though we visited in the summer, it would be well well suited and very cozy for a winter visit as well. We would definitely return to this property!

This house is in the middle of the Northshore and has easy access to all Lake Tahoe has to offer. 1.5 miles from the highway, getting around the Tahoe Basin is effortless. The drive around the Lake is breathtaking and you'll enjoy the different little towns that surround the Lake. . The house is in a quiet pocket of homes just up from the Lake at Kings Beach .All the homes here sit on a meadow with tall pine trees, and the roads dead end at the hiking trails. Winter and summer they are used and maintained by the forest service. It borders the Tahoe Rim trail which is a destination for some with endless hiking trails you can access from the house. Brockway Summit is well know for its path to Tahoe City, and Watson Lake is worth hiking too. You can walk in the summertime to our neighborhood park, North National Park. The park encompasses approximately 124 acres of predominantly active recreational activities. An 18 par fitness course, ball fields, Frisbee Golf, playground are just a few options. In the wintertime they offer a nice sledding hill for tubing and snow fun. Within 20 min to all the ski resorts on the North Shore, Northstar in the closest and newest village. The village was modeled after Beaver Creek Colorado...cobblestone sidewalks, copper roofs and a multitude of restaurants and shops that line the 'square'. The square is an ice skating rink in the wintertime and roller skating in summer. The bon fire pits and outdoor bars are always there. Its a wonderful setting to hang out at especially at night. Skiing here is family orientated with lots of ski programs for all ages, and a pristine mountain that keeps a good grasp on good snow conditions. If your staying a week, I highly recommend taking advantage of the other resorts also. A bonus is from the house you can drive the back way to Alpine and Squaw Valley which will eliminate the morning traffic through Tahoe City. Both mountains have tons of excellent skiing, and mountain biking in the summertime. MT Rose is where to go for open terrain, Diamond Peak for kids and an easy day skiing. Both are 15 min to the house. In the summertime, Kings Beach just down the street is a State Park with lifeguard and lake toys to rent. The beach is the highlight with wide sandy beaches, and views you have to experience to appreciate. There are also smaller beaches up and down the strip for reading a book, and dog beaches for your loved ones. Brockway golf course in Kings Beach is a must for those that just want a good time. One of the top 9 hole courses in California, its known for its yardage and views. In the wintertime the course becomes a snowmobiling park. Tahoe City is 12 miles away and offers another nice city with shops, restaurants and outdoor venues. The Truckee River is our playground for fishing, river rafting, and bike baths to view all. A nice day is renting your bike in Tahoe City and riding to River Ranch. This is a river front restaurant with large outdoor patio at the entrance to Alpine Meadows. Here is where the river tours end and usually where the rafts have issues. You can spend the day here watching the rafters and enjoying their menu and drink. Between the location , amenities of the house, and your favorite family or friends, you'll have a great home to stay at while getting a true Lake Tahoe experience.
