We are a professional couple from Atlanta who decided to invest in a historic Savannah home to help in the city's preservation and also enjoy the joy of this wonderful, charming city.
The Owner purchased this house in 2000
Our family fell in love with Savannah when we began to visit the charming city in the early 90s. The transformation of the town from that time to now has been astounding. It is so invigorating to walk the streets and soak in the history and architecture. It truly is a jewel of a city.
The 1822 Row House is a large, spacious house so close to all downtown activities. We like to think that it offers a unique mixture of a beautiful, authentically historic house (1822) with tasteful, modern updates (1999 renovation).
Our group of 6 women thoroughly enjoyed this home! Upon arrival we parked in a parking garage 1.5 blocks away & had no problem walking to everything. This home is conveniently located & in a safe area. There was more than enough room inside for our smaller sized party but we each had our own (comfortable) bed & when we were all together we found ourselves in the kitchen or dining room despite the huge living room. The amenities included all linens, towels, kitchen appliances, toiletries etc which provided the comforts of a hotel in a private setting & at a fraction of the cost. The owner's were more than helpful in planning our stay. We would highly recommend & would stay again.
We had a group of friend enjoy this wonderful house over a wedding weekend in Savannah. The property was exactly what we were looking for and accommodated our party very well. All of the amenities were fantastic and the rooftop views were very classy and traditional for a Savannah home. Walking distance to all of the places you would want to go. Located in a safe area and just blocks from river street. Would definitely stay again.
We absolutely LOVED this house. It was walking distance to everything, so we all parked our cars in the deck across the street. There was plenty of room for all of us and we loved the historical decor. We would definitely stay again and recommend this to anyone visiting Savannah!
This would be a great historic place for a family get-together for its visit to historic Savannah. There's plenty of space to spread out; however, the huge dining room table offers plenty of space for everybody to get together too. The house was clean upon our arrival and the kitchen was well stocked with small appliances and dishes. The owners were also very accommodating with an issue that arose upon our departure. Just two warnings: the living levels are not easily accessible for those who have problems climbing stairs and be sure to feed those parking meters or use the parking garage across the street(the city of Savannah meter readers must get a cut on every ticket).
The location of the property was perfect - we were able to walk anywhere and everywhere. We were disappointed in the house. We needed to spend the first hour there cleaning - it looked like the property had not been cleaned - in awhile. The dishwasher was full of dishes and glasses that looked like they had been there a long time. As mentioned in another review the water pressure in the first floor bathroom was very weak - leaving 6 women to shower in one bathroom.
This home is very spacious and in located within walking distance to almost everything. You will need to use a car or the free local bus transportation to get to the grocery store. Sleeping arrangements were best for eight. Only issue from our group is the downstairs shower had little water pressure. Would stay again.
