I don’t want to sound over the top...but hands down my week in Puerto Rico was the best trip I have taken in my life! I made the trip with 9 friends and we were all absolutely floored by the house and the location. The house is gorgeous and I honestly got the impression I was staying in a 5 star resort. I was blown away by how big it actually was and how open it was too...the climate couldn't be any more perfect and with low humidity and warm temps at night we often slept with all the interior doors open. We welcomed each morning by checking the waves from the top of the building/eating breakfast in the clean and spacious kitchen and wrapped each day up by relaxing by the pool in the well maintained (and private) yard or playing hours of beach volleyball .
We went to PR on a surf trip, and if you are planning on heading here to surf you probably already know about Rincon's world renowned surf. The house is a short walk/drive from Domes/Marias/Tres Palmas/Dogmans and not even two minutes form Steps beach where we went snorkeling...the reefs here are incredible! Some of the north coast spots are well within a mornings drive too, and we were able to surf Jobos and Wilderness at 8 am and be back at the house in time for lunch. We decided that with so many different beach directions to pick up different swell angles, it’s not a matter of if there are waves, but where there’s waves (which is incredibly coming from Florida!!)
The house is located right on Route 413 "the road to happiness" and that road takes you right into town which is really cool because you can also fully experience the culture of Puerto Rico. We were able to walk to a fun restaurant near the house, but we also branched out and found some more local eats in town. Make sure you eat at the bakery on top of the hill on your way to Pools beach!! The people in Rincon (and all of Puerto Rico from what we could tell) are really friendly and nice. Even the localism in the lineup (surf) isn’t bad, and as long as you show respect you’ll get respect back.
We were very satisfied with our stay and I would definitely recommend this house
Everything was perfect and the house manager and owner made this a seamless experience for us and our retreat guests! The grounds are gorgeous and well-maintained - from the pool, to the decks where we practiced yoga every day, to the sun roof where we caught some rays and watched the sunset. Everything was so clean upon our arrival and anytime we needed anything the house manager was so hospitable. Thank you, we can't wait to come back!!
Casa Pura Vida is a great property for a group! We recently celebrated our wedding there and it was great. Everyone who stayed had a great time and enjoyed the house. The two things that would have been helpful for us to know ahead of time; 1. There is a bathroom on the main floor but not a full bath so for anyone who stairs are tough getting a shower might be tricky. 2. To access the bathrooms and some of the bedrooms on the second floor you have to walk through other bedrooms. This is not an issue as long as everyone knows and can coordinate who sleeps where but again just a helpful heads up. Other than that the property is great. Good location, comfortable and tons of fun.
Many people thought that 19 people (4 families) traveling to Puerto Rico together would wind up with everyone on each others nervous and dying to get home. Not the case when staying at Pura Vida! Our group ranged in age from 5 to 50+ and each one of us have deemed the experience one of the best of our lives. The house was clean, well stocked and large enough for us to sometimes not know where other members of our group were. The bunk room for the kids was perfect and the additional renting of the ground floor apartment not only added two additional bedrooms but also an additional kitchen space, bathroom and washer and dryer. The private pool was the perfect oasis when we were done with the beach, but not with the sunshine. The location was terrific too. We were within a short drive to everything, including a Sam's Club which made stocking the house with food and beverage a breeze. We had our dinners catered in every night (including New Year's Eve) by TasteBuds, PR. There was plenty of dining space for us all to sit comfortably and dine together for each meal. From the booking process with Gina, to the checkout with Joe, the experience was smooth, relaxing and enjoyable. We hope to return!
The house is everything you see in these photos. There were eleven of us, 8 adults, one teen and 2 small children. There was plenty of space for privacy when needed and the kitchen was well equipped. We grilled one night and we were all able to sit outside together and enjoy a marvelous meal. (The grill is fabulously huge). Joe the House Manager was a sweetheart, and met us at the most ungodly hour of 3 am in the morning to give us a walk thru and hand us the keys. He even stocked the fridge and pantry with a list provided in advance. There is a great Juice Cart, Carte Buena, in the next lot for those of us addicted to fresh juices and smoothies, great organic coffee too! Marina and snorkeling is within walking distance. Snorkeling is amazing! Though some of us were too enamored with the pool to leave it for long. What can I say, we were all terribly sad to leave!
One note: The house is right off a busy road. However, this would not deter us from returning!
Musts: Carte Buena for Love & Happiness Kale Smoothies; Brunch at the English Rose, if only for the view; Banana Dang for amazing smoothies and iced vegan lattes; Shipwreck for a casual fun dinner; Copa LLena for great drinks, dinner and atmosphere; Harbour Restaurant bar for lobster empanadas with a great view. This is only to name a few, as there is so much to discover in Rincon!
