About Randy Skalski

We hope that you have a wonderful stay at our log cabin. We lived in Colorado for more than 20 years and after a careful search, purchased this cabin for our family’s use during frequent trips to Colorado and enjoy sharing it with our guests. Thank-you for being our guest and we hope you will return.

Randy Skalski purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Randy Skalski chose Idaho Springs

We love the setting of our cabin, nestled in a canyon, with a roaring creek, surrounded by National Forest, and without another home in sight. We also like the convenient location near the lively and vibrant City of Denver, with every available cultural activity and amenity; the quaint and historic town of Idaho Springs; and all the splendid sights and activities in the Rocky Mountains.

What makes this cabin unique

The sights and sounds of the creek are truly magical. On a more practical note, the cabin is extremely easy to find and easy to get to anytime of year on paved roads that are snow-plowed regularly. Winter access is about as good as it gets for the mountains in Colorado.

This cabin was amazing! The location was perfect with no other houses too close and the town near it was adorable with everything we needed. Cabin was so big and well cared for. Hiking and views were great! I wish we could have stayed longer and we will definitely be back in the future!!! Thanks!

My Husband and I just spent the night at this beautiful cabin that is top of the line in every aspect. The owner is so very nice. And easy to work with he goes above and beyond. for his guests. the décor is high end from the beds to the art. you can spend hours just admiring all the detail of this cabin. it is the best cabin I have stayed at. and we have stayed at several. I stayed there in 2009. and its even more beautiful then I remembered. Great books to read a lot of history. and the little fox is a huge plus. I think he is there to welcome you. what a true piece of heaven. we cant wait to go back. thank you again Randi. for sharing your cabin with us.

Perfect Place to Stay!

  • of 5

The photos simply do not do this property justice! The layout and location was absolutely perfect for my friends and I on our ski trip to Colorado. I am a real estate agent in Houston, TX and you can tell this property shows pride of ownership. Upon arrival the home was clean, beds were made, plenty of fresh towels were available, AND the landlord had a truckload of firewood dropped off for us!

We could not be more grateful for you allowing us to stay in your lovely home, and we will certainly be back.

Best regards,

Ross

What a Great Property

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in this property for 6 days on a recent business trip to the area. We stay in VRBO properties frequently and this one is definitely better than most. The kitchen is one of the best I have ever used. Fully outfitted with almost any gadget you might want. There is also a full sized washer and dryer available.

The bedrooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. I really enjoyed the artwork with its old West themes. The views from every room are fantastic. During our visit it snowed and the temperatures dropped to below zero so we really didn't get to enjoy the many outdoor areas as much as you would in more temperate weather. We did make good use of the wood burning stove and ample firewood. I would recommend that you bring an ax if possible as the wood was all too large for starting a fire. The wood stove worked great. Also, the roads were kept clear throughout our visit as well.

The Internet was basic DSL and easy to use with all our devices. (iPhones, iPads, laptops) The bandwidth was enough for email and basic web browsing. Our cell service (AT&T) dropped out about 0.5 miles from the cabin, but the land line with its many cordless phones made it possible to keep in touch when necessary. We enjoyed the break from continuous contact. We were able to text easily using the Internet Wi-Fi connection, so sending the land line phone number was easy if you wanted someone to call.

There are plenty of good restaurants and grocery stores in Idaho Springs which is just 2.5 miles away. They also have several interesting museums and shops in the historic district. Plan to spend at least a few hours exploring this quaint town where they boast the Colorado Gold Rush began.

We will definitely stay here on future visits to the area. Its convenient location and wonderful amenities made this a very memorable visit.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed our log cabin and our town. There is a can labeled Kindling Only next to the firewood rack. If it runs out, there is usually plenty of small branches on the property that can be broken up for kindling. I can't provide an ax for liability purposes. Thanks!
