Bellaire / Shanty Creek Vacation Rental cabin

This was place is not done justice by its pictures! It is more than amazing - you will be pleased when you see the house. We stayed for a week and took complete advantage of the large yard, surrounding forests, and most of all, the hot tub. It is very secluded, set on a hill and the driveway comes off of a very private road. We really had an amazing time and enjoyed the surrounding lakes. It is not very far from town, yet you will see lots of wildlife. It really is a fantastic house to stay in.

However, that is only my review of the house. Unfortunately, I do not have such rave reviews for the owners of this place. They came in unexpectedly one morning, and I had to get out of the shower to see them. They then proceeded to accuse us of having many more people than were actually staying there, as we had friends who were also staying in the area over for the day. I understand their concern, but did not appreciate how they treated us after that. One of them called inquiring about sunglasses they left there, and then said she'd come and pick them up, with no mention of day or time. The space we paid for seemed invaded by this open ended invitation.

After we left, I received a bill for a wall repair that was ridiculously overpriced. When I attempted to contact him to get a copy of the estimates and bill for the repair (and also to return some towels we ended up with), he did not return my calls or emails. He has not to this day.

Also, there was a bullet left in the couch that fit in the only gun that had its firing equipment still attached. That being said, I would not visit this location if you have children. It is also surrounded by dirt and sand, and is almost entirely floored in white carpeting. They have extremely fragile and valuable chairs in there, so if it looks antique, I wouldn't even take the chance of sitting in it. Also: be prepared to accept any price that they charge to your card, as they will not speak with you about it after the fact.

It is unfortunate that such a beautiful property is made less attractive by its ownership. If you are willing to put up with these disturbances and take the chance of obscene charges, I would highly recommend this vacation home.

Thank you for offering the perfect place for family and friends to retreat to! During our Thanksgiving retreat we were surprised by the warm cabin being perfectly decorated to kick off the holiday season. The kids really enjoyed this. The gourmet kitchen was great for cooking a wonderful Thanksgiving meal - enjoyed by many.

The property allowed for a little sightseeing, attempts at deerhunting (with young boys in tow :-)), sitting by a fire outside, sledding and relaxing in the hit tub!

The local area is quite charming. There are many unique shops and some nice restaurants. Snowmobile trails and Ski Resorts appear to be close by as well.

The property was exactly as described, everything was clean and ready for our visit. The owners were very friendly and helpful!

We would definately recommend this cabin to our family and friends and will look for the opportunity to escape there again!!!
