I wanted to like it, but...

For the most part, this cottage is a mixed bag. True, it does have a spectacular outdoor area that is well-maintained (even if the gardener did come without warning during our stay to spend the day), for the most part. The inside could use the same attention.
First, it was pretty dirty. The slipcovers in the living room sorely needed a wash, there was a layer of grease and dust in the kitchen that also trapped some hairs from God knows where, it smelled like cat urine in the living areas (accept in the kitchen...it smelled like fish-fry), the fridge needed to be cleaned out thoroughly with bleach and most the dishes there needed to be rewashed.
Also, on a related front, as much as I did try to convince myself that it was some species of insect native to Cape Cod to get through the week, it had what looked very much to be roaches.
But wait, there's more! While the cottage owner or property manager advertises air conditioning, it's just one small low-BTU unit in one of the sleeping areas. Fortunately, it didn't get hot until the end of our stay, but I shudder to think what the current occupants are doing now that it's 91 outside.
Then, I suppose to have an effective air conditioner, they would need to rewire significantly, as many places in the house feature daisy-chained power strips as the key electrical solution.
For the price, I'm not sure this cottage is worth it. But to be fair, it is PTown -- lackluster accomodation experiences would seem commonplace. Still, if they actually managed to scrub the place from top-to-bottom, replace (or steam clean) the carpet, get new mattresses sans cat pee, call the Orkin man and install a good 14k BTU air conditioner (after updating the electrical), it would actually be a great place.
