We stayed here during Thanksgiving week 2008. Believe it or not, the photos do not show how fabulous this house is! The bedrooms are large, the bathrooms are on every floor and the lanais all offer wonderful places to sit and relax. Ceiling fans kept the house cool during the day, and the breezes at night, along with the sounds of the ocean, helped us all sleep soundly!
Our group of 10 enjoyed the pool table, the swimming pool and the bbq grill. The laundry room was handy, and there are an abundance of bath towels and beach towels to use. The house was large enough to accomodate all of us and still afford privacy when needed. Everyone took turns using the "super shower" in the Master Suite.
The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, glassware, utensils and cooking equipment. There is a pantry in the kitchen with plenty of storage space for food. Two coffee pots were perfect for the decaf and regular caf drinkers. The refrigerator downstairs was perfect for holding water, sodas, juices, and other beverages, plus it was ideal for a cocktail prep area.
In addition to using all the bedrooms, one person slept on the futon in the Media Room downstairs, one slept on the futon in the office, and the teenager slept on the couch in the lanai next to the breakfast nook, and everyone said they were comfortable and had plenty of room for their "stuff." All the bedrooms had large closets and/or wardrobes and dressers. All had TVs, altho I think the TVs were rarely used. The wireless internet connection worked in the office, the bedrooms and in the Great Room!
There is a stereo sound system in the office closet that delivers music throughout the common areas of the house, so be sure to find a local radio station or play an "IZ" CD when you are home.
Large chain grocery stores (Safeway, Costco) and small ones (Sak 'n Save and one that starts with K?) are nearby, as are Long's drugstore, the US Post Office and several ABC stores.
The next door neighbors (in the house on the back of the lot) are nice, friendly and helpful. Keiki Beach is a few steps away and exploring the many tidepools in the lava rocks was fascinating.
Very few bugs -- the geckos outside took care of that every night. Working with Gerry at the property management firm was great, being 2,500+ miles away and setting up a week-long vacation for our group could have been full of drama, but it was simple and easy.
If you are looking for a house that will serve a large group, Keiki Beach is for you!
