We love Seneca Lake. Kayaking on the lake is fabulous. The screened porch protects you from the weather and makes you feel like you are actually on the dock. Waking up to the water is the best part.
Jim & Sue Getgen purchased this cottage in 2007
We love Seneca Lake, every day the lake changes and is beautiful. Just waking up to the lake is a site. Very quiet.
Fire pit is great to sit out at night and enjoy.
My family and I spent 4 days at the GegInn house on the west side of Seneca. I would highly recommend this home for a family vacation. The home has been newly remodeled throughout - and it is very well appointed. EVERYTHING except the food was waiting for us. The home was very clean and bright and cheery. There was plenty of room and the view of the lake was very nice. I would stay here again and would recommend this to friends.
This was a perfect house for a week away with my adult son - who has disabilities. Modern, fresh, up to date kitchen and bathrooms, comfortable beds, great house for rainy days as well as to enjoy the lake on sunny days. Wonderful screened porch for dining and reading.
This is the most awesome place to stay. It's beautiful! We love, love, love the lake! Staying at the Getg Inn is the absolute best place to stay. The cottage has everything you need and it spotless and very well maintained and excellent owners of the property. It is the best vacation spot and centrally located to all the surrounding wineries and breweries. Simply the best!!!!
This cottage has a wonderful view of Seneca Lake. With the exception of the master suite, the accommodations fell short compared to other properties where we have stayed. For example: There were used bars of soap left in the bathrooms; hair around the drain in the hall bath as well as a very moldy shower handle; used clothing left in the dresser; and some furniture was very worn - seat cushion torn and stuffing coming out. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this cottage as a place to stay when visiting the Finger Lakes.
We stayed at this beautiful lake house with three children ages 9, 10 and 10 and had a great time. The owners are super accommodating and we enjoyed every second of our stay here. The screened porch with an awesome view of the lake, master bedroom, grill, fire pit, ac, and fully equipped kitchen made our stay here pleasant and enjoyable.
There is plenty to do: fishing, kayaking, boating, jet skiing, hiking, touring wineries, etc. The options are endless.
Our top two nearby places are The Corning Museum of Glass (about an hour away) and Watkins Glenn State Park (about 30 minutes away).
Plan on going to the Corning Museum at least 2 days. The great thing about the museum is that kids and teens are free. If you choose to make something at the Corning Museum, which we strongly encourage, you will need to pick up your creations the following day to allow the glass to cool in a temperature controlled oven.
At Watkins Glenn the fee was $8.00 per car. The ticket is good for the entire day at all state parks in the area. The park has an olympic size pool and beautiful views of waterfalls if you hike The Gorge. We would have loved to go hiking more, but the kids were not as enthusiastic as the adults were about hiking.
We also recommend stopping at the Taughannock Falls State Park during your visit.
Throughout our stay the children were most interested in fishing from the dock at the house and were very successful in catching sunfish and catfish. Fishing was in their minds at all times. Our children caught a sunfish the first night and we ate it for breakfast the following morning. All the kids thought that this was the best fish they had ever tasted.
We also took advantage of the fire pit, which provided great entertainment for the family as we roasted marshmallows on a starry night.
Jim and Sue are the owners and they have thought of every single detail to provide a home away from home. We had such a great experience at this lake house and we'll be returning without a doubt. If you are looking for a great place to stay during your visit to Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region, look no further than the 'Getg Inn'!
We stayed for 3 days and enjoyed a very comfortable, relaxing time. the cottage is very well stocked and everything was kept very clean. Lots of space to relax and enjoy the view. We hope to return very soon! The owners were wonderful. Thanks so much Sue and Jim!
