It is as beautiful as it appears

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so very much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful condo. We had such a wonderful time...I can't even put it all into words. Your condo is so loved. The work you have done shows how much you care about it.

We love your kitchen. The unique cabinets, granite counter, new appliances etc. all contribute to an outstanding visit. Everything ran as it should and there were 2 hair dryers :) I only used one twice. I found that with the salt water, pool and sun it was easier to just let it go.

We enjoyed coffee and books on the patio in the morning and the evenings were so incredible. Watching the lights coming on in Cruz Bay and seeing the unreal color of the water less than 100 steps from the door...priceless. My son and I snorkeled twice for hours in bay. On our last snorkel he touched his first sea turtle and we swam with 3 squid. What fun!

We spent a day on Jost Van Dyke enjoying White Beach, the Soggy Dollar and Foxy's and an afternoon on St. John shopping. Our favorite thing to do had to be the scuba diving with the Red Hook Divers. We can't say enough about their business. They are so careful, helpful and knowledgeable. We actually made 6 dives! Our son saw his first sharks, identified some unusual fish and learned a lot about soft corals. It will be a birthday he will never forget. If anyone should ever ask for advise about diving you can feel confident giving a recommendation to the Red Hook Dive Shop.

The security team did a good job of keeping the grounds secure. We felt very safe on the property. Every day crews were working to update and care for the property. Everything worked and ran as it should.

Unfortunately it has been dry and the plants and bushes are not leafing out. This leaves the air conditioning units exposed by the parking lot. When things grow up they will be less noticeable.

Our favorite restaurants were Molly Malone's, Fungi and the Banana Cabana on the property makes a great burger. We did not have success at the Grapevine Restaurant on the property.

Steve and Sherri have a very neat and clean property. Their caretaker is outstanding. He even drove us to the airport when we left early in the morning.

Our stay at this property was perfect.

PARADISE BEYOND IMAGINATION

  • 5 of 5

We read with some interest of the guest that stayed at this condo in December 2014 “Almost Paradise” and wonder if they were at the same place we were in January. We have stayed at this condo in January for the past 2 years and just reserved it for a week in January 2016! We love the area and location of the condo. If we want to go into the ocean and swim, we can get chairs for free by the tiki hut (which has a good selection of food and drinks) and they will take the chairs wherever you want them on the beach. It is less than a 5 minute walk from the rear of the condo. The beach can sometimes have a lot of people from the cruise ships, but we have never had a problem with getting a spot and a chair (the chairs are for guests of the condos only). There is great snorkeling just off the area by the condo also.

We have seen them clean up the sea weed on the beach and a truck has the bags removed within a couple of hours or less, it is better than walking around a lot of sea weed on the beach. We love going to Red Hook just about a mile away and the selection of restaurants to choose from and night life if you want to stay out. However, it is not a “big city” atmosphere and is about 2-3 blocks with restaurants and shops. Everybody is friendly and easy to get along with.

We cannot say enough how great it is to visit the area and the condo and cannot wait until our trip in 2016 having returned to New York and the weather………we would rather be by the pool with a drink and a sandwich(about 40’) from the rear of the condo and looking at the fabulous views!

Sapphire Beach

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have just returned from an incredible two week vacation on Sapphire Beach. We quickly reserved another two weeks for our third return vacation in 2016! Thank you Steve for sharing your gorgeous ocean front condo with us! This is the only vacation rental we have ever repeated visiting in 33 years of marriage. Sapphire Beach offers everything we need for a restful, beautiful and convenient vacation. Sapphire Beach provides a friendly hometown atmosphere with lovely surroundings to nearby Red Hook. (less than a 10min. drive away) Stores, both grocery and pharmacy, restaurants, bars and 15 min. ferry service to St. John's is all right there. We have never felt the need to rent a car since regulated taxis service is always available inside the entrance to Sapphire Beach.

Beautiful white sand beach, fun snorkeling, clean swimming pool, on the beach cabana grill and bar, and a marina, which offers several types of boating adventures, is all just a few steps away from the condo. We have always felt safe and secure with the 24 hour Sapphire Security team.

The condo is generously appointed with everything you may need. The kitchen is fully equipped, bath and beach towels are provided, double bathroom sinks and a very nice shower-tub make you feel right at home. There is one king sized bed and a small pull out couch. The covered patio is perfect for eating and gazing at the beautiful ocean and views of St. John's. If you are looking for a slice of laid back Caribbean paradise then this Sapphire Beach condo has it all.

Almost paradise

  • 3 of 5

My husband and I bid on this trip at charity auction so we got a great price for staying on a tropical island. It's rare that we escape our 4 children so we were looking forward to it. We loved the lizards around the pool and views were breathtaking- our ferry to St. Johns was awesome! We did have a couple issues with our stay... first the (beautiful but COLD pool) had some defunct broken down/ boarded up tiki bar area taped off with CAUTION tape -- which looked ghetto. It would've been great, were it functional, to have a pina colada/daiquiri while sitting poolside in that 80s weather! There was nowhere at this resort to get a bite to eat/ drink whatsoever except for a small tiki hut stand over at the entrance to Sapphire Beach, which serves limited drinks and a couple burger options, but the hours vary and the workers close it when they feel like it. The beach area outside the condo was really rocky so you can't necessarily wade in right there off your patio/pool area. The Sapphire beach swim area was just a short walk, but we found it rather crowded and the snorkel center/help hut looked really run down and wreaked of smoke. For almost the entire week we were here, there were large black trash bags that sat along the beach unattended (just a stone's throw away from our back patio) --I asked the lounge chair keeper about the bags and he said it's seaweed. Ok, but to leave them day after day on the beach just looked trashy. One day there was a large backhoe truck parked right in front of our patio that obstructed our view and was really loud. Apparently there were men painting/ fixing rooftops, but they could have moved it out of the way while they weren't working (it sat there unattended for a time). Unless you rent a car (which would have been scary because the roads are narrow and they drive on opposite side) the only way to get out of this resort is walking up a steep hill (not fun in heels) to the main road to catch a 'safari' van down hill to Red Hook, which had limited bars/ shops, the only way back was a taxi. We prefer an area with more to see and do at/on resort property. Condo was nicely decorated w/lovely appliances but it's small. We both sneezed a lot indoors, I wondered how often maybe pillows are changed (there was a decorative glass bowl of crystals? by the bed that was full of dust). Our internet access here was nil here. Resort people were generally friendly/ not busting with enthusiasm to help. Was a nice getaway, but maybe not for us.

Owner's Response: After 29, five out of five star reviews, odds were that we could not please everybody. We donated a one week stay of the condo to a Susan B. Anthony fund raising charity. I do not think by this guest comments and subsequent correspondence, after the stay, that they were aware of what St. Thomas was like and what she was getting at fraction of the cost of a “normal” weekly rental. “Island time” is a very real thing on many islands which for some guests it is hard to “go with the flow”. Based on this person’s comments they were looking for a large resort atmosphere with planned actives, many restaurants available to them and a Cosmopolitan city feel around them. There are places on island, such as the Marriott, (starting at $735/night) that offer such items. In our visit to other Caribbean islands we do not know if any that has that Cosmopolitan feel. There are a lot of activities to do at the resort and on island, but you have to research or get them from the owner. There is not an activity director at a front desk, but there are signs at the marina and other places around the grounds offering varied activities. The guest is correct that the views at Sapphire Beach are breathtaking and some of the best on the island (better than the Marriott, in our opinion) with a better beach. The pool water may have been a little “cool” in December when the temperature was in the 80’s on island, but was a lot warmer than an outdoor pool in the northern mainland. The small tiki hut that serves food has substantially more than a few burger options (see the menu on our website). There are a couple of other places to get food within a five minute walk, but I would wear sandals or tennis shoes to get to them and not heels. There is internet available at the condo to be purchased at the guests discretion

Great Location, your own spot on the beach, best value on St. Thomas

  • 5 of 5

This was the first time my wife and I had been to St. Thomas, after initially figuring out how everything worked on the island I new we had lucked out on our room choice. The room was fantastic, you literally walk out off the back porch and you are in the sand! You are 15 steps to the pool and 20 steps to the beach. Now if you prefer to be in a fancy or ritzy housing setting then I would recommend somewhere else. My wife and I preferred to be more secluded on our stays and this spot fits the bill. Sapphire beach is so close and one of the best beaches on the island " snorkeling/swimming". The place is located a quick 2-4 min taxi ride from Redhook, which is a little town where there are plenty of places to eat, drink, and have a great time. The condo was very nice and very clean, and Steve was extremely helpful in figuring everything out. I would recommend this place to everyone! We had an amazing vacation and I don't think it would have been nearly as convinent or accessible without this condo. Thanks for everything Steve you have an amazing place

Paradise found: The perfect waterfront spot for those who want peace and quiet.

  • 5 of 5

Best vacation ever! A snorkelers dream. Walk out the patio door and pop into the along shore reef. The condo is well designed, well equipped, well maintained, located in the quieter, more private section of Sapphire Beach. Owners very helpful and easy to work with. Patio faces St John. Chaise lounges for sunning or reading, a quiet pool just left of the patio, Palm trees for shade. Larger sandy beach a few hundred feet to the left. This is where the more active (noisy) section is located. And its wide beach and sandy bottom is a better beach for small children and waders. Yummy cocktails and snacks available over there. 500 feet to the right is the marina where day charters, and sails can be found and a school of 4 foot tarpon hang out begging for fish scraps. We did both the dinner sail and the day snorkeling cruise on the New Horizons at the marina. Gorgeous 60' sail boat. Great friendly crew, sailed us to the most scenic spots and kept us well fed and well 'watered'. We liked to go into Red hook, just down the road about a mile, for dinners and the ferries to St john. Red Hook is very laid back and the traffic much less hectic than Charlotte Amalie. We rented a car and joyfully toured the crazy twisting hilly roads of St Thomas and St John (driving on the left). Golf at Mahagony Run was an adventure. The Devils Triangle Holes are on a cliff over looking a rocky coast. Perfect weather every day we were there. Air Temps 75 to 80, water temps 77 to 82. What more could one want? We'll be back!
