This apartment has a great location, just steps to the beach and walking distance to restaurants, Pueblo Extra 24 hour groceries store, Walgreen's 24 hour pharmacies and walking to the heart of Condado is only 15 minutes.
Being at the center of the area and with easy connection to major highways makes it a less than 20 minute drive either to the airport, to old San Juan, Plaza Las Americas (The largest Shopping Mall in the Caribbean) and the Hato Rey Financial District for businessmen, as long as you are not driving on rush hour traffic. It's also just a few minutes drive from the Puerto Rico art museum, bars & discos and all the fun that the city of San Juan Offers.
It's also good to know for peace of mind, since you never know, that in case of an emergency two of the best hospitals in the Caribbean are located about 10 blocks away and they accept all mayor US health insurance plans.
The Neighborhood:
Ocean Park is a neighborhood located between Condado and Isla Verde. I love it because, unlike Condado, Ocean Park doesn't have any high rises, giving it a real Key West neighborhood feeling. It's quieter than Condado, Isla Verde and Old San Juan, but if you want the excitement, it's just a few minutes away. For years, the efforts of our residents against developers have enforced the building code and kept the integrity of our neighborhood, where no building rises higher than 3 stories. Our beautiful beach is nice and wide and you can sunbathe longer in the afternoon without the shade that the high rises in Condado and Isla Verde make after 2 pm. Sports:
Golf:
There are several world class facilities located in Dorado, about 40 west of San Juan and Rio Mar, near Luquillo about 45 minutes east of San Juan.
Gym:
There's a gym in Ocean Park 4 blocks away that has day passes and there are a couple more in the Condado area.
Surfing:
Popular spots are at the east end of the beach in Ocean Park, the Pine Grove area of Isla Verde and north of the Capitol in Old San Juan.
Windsurfing:
There are plenty of places to rent windsurfing gear in the Condado area. Most people prefer to windsurf in the Condado Lagoon and Ocean Park Beach.
Jogging/Tennis:
There's a park in Ocean Park that has a track to jog and tennis courts.
Hiking:
There's no better place to go hiking than El Yunque rain forrest, near Rio Mar Golf course. It's the only rain forrest of the US National Parks and it's always a treat to visit.
Deep Sea Fishing:
At the San Juan Yacht Club at the western tip of Condado it's easy to get day trips or rent a boat.
