Mainsail Cottage is an oceanfront, non smoking, self catering, fully furnished unit. Amazing view, one bedroom, can sleep five, private beach, good swimming, large grassy lawn, completely winterized. Large well appointed kitchen area, electric fireplace, hot water heating, full bath. Lots of wild life to enjoy. Off the beaten track, therefore very quiet and private. Close to many other south shore attractions. 50 minutes from the airport, 35 minutes to Halifax, just over an hour to the Martock ski slope in the Annapolis valley. The local 'Rails to Trails' provide a venue to cross country ski or snow shoe. Our property is absolutely beautiful in the winter. It would be a lovely place to spend a romantic Christmas. It's an ideal spot to rest and relax, study, write or work in a quiet and beautiful setting. Sorry we can't accommodate pets.

Day excursions along the South Shore, to Peggy's cove, Chester, Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, and Bridgewater are within an hour or less. We are twenty minutes away from the exit to Windsor and the ski hill at Martock, and on to the scenic Annapolis Valley. The Aspotogan Trail and the St. Margaret's Bay Trail originate in Hubbards. These are excellent for all seasonal activities, walking, biking, snow shoeing, or cross country skiing. The Halifax International Airport is about an hour away. The closest access to a main highway is exit 6 of the 103 which is about a mile and a half away.

Notes: The cottage is partially wheel chair accessible in that we can provide a ramp from the grassed lawn directly into the large combination kitchen/living/dining room area. You would need some mobility in order to maneuver around the bathroom, as a wheel chair will not fit in there. We would be willing to install hand rails in the bathroom if requested to do so. As regards long term renting, we do not wish to rent on a permanent basis, but stays of a number of weeks or a couple of months are welcomed.

Wonderful quiet place to get away

I stayed at Mainsail the second week of July and had a wonderful time. Its very clean and is definitely fully stocked! Its right in Hubbards which is central to anywhere you would like to go, yet is just off the beaten path to a quiet spot facing the bay. We watched the boats sail past and different water fowl fish. There are about 5-6 beaches within 5-20 min away (also a small private one right in front of the cottage), Halifax is only about 1/2 hour and Chester, Mahone Bay and Lunenburg are not far for site seeing. Don and Carol are wonderful to deal with, providing excellent service.

The massage therapist in Bayswater is absolutely great if you are looking for more relaxation or getting a sports massage. Beautiful building with a view of the sea from where you are laying on the table!

I highly recommend staying at the mainsail. Best price in the area too!!
