Bartlett Vacation Rental condo

In the description, this sounds like a wonderful condo when in fact, this condo is only a renovated basement of a condo. This description is very misleading as usually a condo for rent that would sleep 6 is an entire condo. This was downstairs under the deck of the main condo. The picture of the deck isn't even part of the rental as it is off the owner's living room.

The only entrance to this condo is around back but since there was so much snow, they did not clear the path to the back door but expected us to use their front door and go through their living room, down a set of spiral stairs to our "basement". They wanted us to use this way which was completely unacceptable and gave us absolutely no privacy. It made you feel like you were staying in your parent's house as the owners were just upstairs and you heard them walking around, watching TV, listening to music AND you smelled them smoking.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) my husband got sick with the flu the first night we were up there and we left the next day. This was a birthday present for him and we were planning on staying 4 nights. The owner did not ask us to sign a rental agreement which I thought was odd so when we had to leave, I asked if he would refund 1/2 the amount since we only stayed one day. He refused but offered to allow us to come back another time. Honestly, after seeing the place, we were not going to come back. So we are out 3 nights stay - which was more than I was willing to pay for any basement - no matter how nicely redone it was.

We felt like we were tricked into this condo as there was no way it slept 6. There were two small bedrooms - one with a queen bed and one with 2 sets of bunk beds on top of it. I was very happy that our friends could not join us for the weekend as it would have been impossible to have two couples in that tiny basement apartment.

I do feel that these photos are deceptive - especially the deck. It is ski in / ski out so if you are willing to pay a lot for the basement of someone else's condo, maybe this would be for you. If you are considering renting this, I would suggest you ask a lot of questions. One of them should be if the owners are going to be on property or not!
