Start your day with a walk along the secluded powder-sand beach as gentle waves lap at your heels and wash your footprints away. Then grab a snorkel and explore the underwater world of Grotto Bay - you'll be amazed at the colorful coral and enchanting fish that are yours for the viewing right off shore, so be sure to bring your underwater camera! The water in the bay is so crystal clear, so calm, that our 6-year old grandson learned to swim right off our beach! After a day filled with sun and fun, watch the sun set over the beautiful waters of Grotto Bay as you sip an exotic drink on the front deck - another perfect day in San Sal, and part of a vacation you'll remember forever.

Nearest Ferry : Mailboat 1 time each week at 6 Miles
Nearest Beach : beach at 100.0 Metres

San Salvador is one of the Bahamian out islands, where the pace of life moves slowly, there are no traffic lights, and the people you meet smile at you. The island has about the lowest crime rate in the world, miles and miles of open beach, reefs that you can swim to from shore, crystal clear water (you can see to about sixty feet}, warm in the day 75/85 cools to 65/75 at night. There's nobody closer to Grotto Beach than you - just 300ft from front porch to beach. The bay has many reefs close in - some are in water less then 5 foot deep {great for the first time snorkeler} You will be given the phone number for a local person who will meet you at the airport and show you the the house, help you make arrangements for sightseeing, diving, etc. and give you information on what there is to do.

Notes: This cottage is 300 ft from the beach, reefs are close to shore. View over bay looking west for sunset; miles of sandy beach to walk - yours my be the only foot prints in the sand for that day. There is an On-island care taker who will give you information, help you book a Eco-tour, Drift fish, Deep sea fishing, or have maid service/cook for meals. This is an out island, the way The Bahamas were 20 years ago. Friendly people, very little crime, uncrowded, few stores, few restaurants. It does have a Doctor and a 4bed Med Center. There are flights by Bahamas air each day to Nassau. There is a club Med that you can eat at if they have room {call ahead}. Best diving in world see to 60 feet diving classes can be taken on island {ask}.

Travel: Bahamas Air Once a day. From Nassua To San Salavdor About 10 a m. San Salavdor to Nassua About 11 am. Cost round trip $190 per person. Car rental About $70 per day {will help with rental}. Not many places take cards Cash is needed at stores ,etc. Cash at bank with card 10 am /400pm ,Mon/Fri. Club Med Has closed all but this one site in the Bahamas, You can call the club and and make reservations for dinner, free drinks ,floor shows,a place to dance, A deal at $80 per person. You can rent a scouter at the airport. The Ridding Rock is a good place to eat. They also give dive lessons.
