Very nice private cabin

We enjoyed our stay at this lakeside cabin in southern NH. The cabin is quite rustic, no TV, no phone and no cell phone service, but this was not an issue for us. We came to get away from those things!
The cabin sits far back off the water but there's still great views from the large screened porch. The large lawn area leading to the lake is also a plus. The property is surrounded by dense high pines and hardwoods on both sides which afford a huge amount of privacy but also limit the sun with direct sunlight onto the property only lasting a few hours each day. Depending on the weather, this could be a plus or minus.
Loons can be heard often and frequently feed just off shore.
The water is clear and shallow as the cabin is located in a small cove. The swimming area was adequate, offering a mixed sandy/rocky bottom for about 30 feet out and then a muck/mud bottom after that. A few hundred feet out is a sandbar that was fun to swim to.
I would not advise bringing a powerboat to this lake as there are many unmarked rocks that linger just at or below the water line.
We encountered a friendly skunk on one occasion as he came down the long dirt driveway, but he was chased off with a few toots on the car horn. There's also ducks that frequent the cove looking for handouts. We refrained from feeding them so they wouldn't become a nuisance.
We discovered a wonderful restaurant nearby and ending up eating there several times. Johnson's Steak and Seafood is on route 4 a few miles away and offers some of the best tasting seafood we've ever had while vacationing in NH. Everything there was reasonably priced and they have an outside icecream window where they serve ridiculously large portions for a few dollars. We also visited Water Country in Portsmouth which is a really nice water park but quite expensive.
