Wonderful place to stay

Cathryn University Place, WA
Review Submitted: May 29, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
My friends and I stayed at the Moose House to have a scrapbook weekend. I was so impressed with how clean it was. We loved all the windows that look directly out to the woods. It feels so serene. The owner is very easy to work with and very friendly. We loved it so much that we are going again next weekend. Another thing that I loved is that it didn't cost us our left arm to rent it and that she doesn't charge a house keeping fee. As long as you clean, clean, clean when leave and leave it how you found it, it is all good! I am so thankful that we found the Moose House, we will definately be using it frequently.

Will go again!

The moose house is a quiet place to put your feet up and relax. The home is nestled in the trees with plenty of birds to listen to as you sit on the deck or by a fire and read a book. The home itself is warm and inviting. We had a fire in the wood stove that provided ample heat while inside. The kitchen is stocked with all the utensils, dishes and pots and pans you would need. The spiral staircase to the loft is a bit tight for my southern behind but I made it and it is a beautiful area. A chair and foot stool to read at, two beds, and a chest of drawers are in the cozy loft. The home is well maintained and very clean.
Lake Cushman is a short walk out the sliding window and across the street. There are plenty of trails around and Staircase National Park are close by for even more scenic drives and trails. Plenty picture opportunities too!
We will definately return and pass along information on this gem of a vacation home!!!

A dream of a house

Natascha and Mirjam Amstelveen, The Netherlands
Review Submitted: October 5, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We stayed for a week at the Moose House in June and had a amazing time. The cabin has everything you need and more. It was clean, has a washer and dryer, tv, dishwasher and everything you need to cook.

When we arrived we explored the house like two little childeren. What a space and the moose items give a special touch to your stay. Waking up in the loft is an experience you want to have everday. We made daytrips to the stairs, Port Townsend to do some whale watching, drove around Olympic NP and fortunately we also planned some relaxing time at the house. We cooked, read, watched a movie, listened to music (Ipod adapter is perfect) and napping outside. We wished we had two weeks instead of one. There is so much to do and so much to see and every night there is a home to go to. We spend our evenings on the porch. We had bbq's, made campfires and roasted marshmellows. A dream come trough for these city girls. Thank you Peggy and Paul for sharing your house with us.
Hopefully we have an opportunity to come back soon.

Great Cabin in a beautiful location!

sunnydaze Arlington, Washington
Review Submitted: September 2, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We just returned from the Moose House on Sunday August 30th, 2009. What a wonderful time we had! When we arrived, we were pleasantly suprised at how clean and adorable the cabin was. We had looked at the pictures and it looked alright but it was MUCH cuter in person. The cabin hides behind a small hill with a knoll of trees in front of it making it very private. The cabin is very well maintained and had everything and much more than what we expected. There were little extras everywhere like a first aid kit, a barbque, a firepit, outdoor chairs, matches, cooking utensils, pots and pans etc., movies to watch, a stereo that we were able to hook our IPod up to (the teens loved that), a washer and dryer,, dishwasher and a two car garage for your toys, a comfortable downstairs master bedroom and the kids loved the spiral staircase up to the loft that had two queen size beds, a desk, a reading chair with ottoman. There are touches of Moose all over the cabin making it a very cute theme. My son who is very adventerous loved the huge wooded area right around the cabin. The lake is withiin 1-2 minutes walking through the back private woods on a nice path. The lake is so clear and warm it was unbelievable! We took a nice drive to the Olympic National Forest (15 mts. and several waterfalls to stop at on the roadside) and hiked the "Staircase" area. It was beautiful and I didn't want to leave. My favorite part of the staircase was the shady loop that follows a crystal clear river with jade colored pools for swimming or fishing and gorgeous staircase style water rapids. We met so many nice people who come to the area every year due to its beauty. There are many hiking trails around and you can use the cabin as your base to explore the beauty of mother nature and the protected national forest land. I wish I was a better hiker because I would have gone much farther into the forest than I did. The paths go on forever so your choices are limitless. It was interesting to read the guest book and see that everyone was pleased with the Moose House, even on rainy days it is comfortable and games are provided making it an excellent family bonding opportunity. We feel that we really lucked out finding the Moose House via the Internet. The owners are very kind and easy to work with and we are anxious to return even if it is not summer, there is a cozy wood stove and we may leave the kids at home :-)
Signed,
A Happy Camper

Moose Casa Su Casa

highsteaks santa fe, new mexico
Review Submitted: September 2, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
The Moose House was everything it was promised to be: rustic, beneath century old firs, close to the lake and public dock, comfortable, quiet and isolated.
My wife and I, whom many consider to be type A plus citydwellers, found the property clean, enjoyable, quiet and best of all, just slightly out of cell phone reception with the rest of the world (however, cell phone service is available if you take a 200 yard walk. Finally, I exercised!).
We stayed for ten days during what was reported to be the worst heatwave in Lake Cushman history and found every day delightful and utterly peaceful. All the joys of the great outdoors with indoor plumbing. it was great.
We hosted several extended family get-togethers and the facilities made dinner for 14 a cakewalk. We actually played games with our teenage children, apparently they will do that if the dearth of video games forces them to it. What we mostly did was absorb the towering pines, the relaxed atmosphere, and swim in the Lake, an easy walk away.
Day hikes in the surrounding mountains are a joy, watersports are available in plenty, there are several golf courses in easy driving distance, and fresh oysters abound in Hoodsport.
The Moosehouse is clean, quiet, homey and comfortable. We fully intend to return again next year. I'd strongly recommend it. I found it to be a great value and well worth every penny.
The owner is extremely kind, immediately responsive and manages her property professionally. It was just an all around great experience. Give it a try.
