CHARLEVOIX AREA ALL SPORTS LAKE

We stayed at the house the week of Aug 14-21, 2010. My family as well as my 2 sisters and their families and our parents. What a great time we had. HUGE yard to play badmitten, ladder golf, volleyball, soccer and bocce ball! Lake was beautiful...clean and clear. Nice sandy area to walk into lake. Sun dock was nice to lay out on while the kids jumped off the end of the boat dock. We also saw the Mink - he is really cute and just catches crayfish and takes them into the rocks. Fishing was good for the kids - not so much for the adults. Although we never seem to have much luck! We brought 2 boats and a jet ski and had plenty of room to dock the boats and plenty of room to park the trucks and trailers. Great to have firewood there (had a fire every night by the lake) - takes up a lot less room to not have to bring it with us. House was VERY clean, nice laundry room, nice kitchen area (has a larger table than what is pictured plus extra card table and chairs) and bedrooms were comfortable. Downstairs is one big room with 4 twin beds (not a seperate bedroom) but enough space we could also put down air mattresses for the kids. Other half of basement we could store extra stuff in (such as our lawn chairs when it rained). Owners were great to deal with and prompt with any questions we had prior to our arrival. For sure we would recommend this place! Went into Ellsworth - very small but cute with a grocery store and even went to Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes for a day trip! Also hit Charlevoix while we were there!

We had 3 generations of family over the week, ranging from 4 to 68 years in age. This place has something for everyone. Great fishing and swimming. Quiet, peaceful setting for evening bonfires. Lots of wild life, we even saw a mink running along the lake shore as we canoed and bald eagles while driving around. Thirty minutes to all the gift, craft or antique shops (or ice cream shops) you wish to wander. This was an ideal cottage in an ideal location, well-kept, spacious and inexpensive for all that it offers. The owner is quick to communicate and has local people to handle any problems that might arise. I AM recommending this to all my friends who, like us, cottage surf for their summer vacations. You really won't be disappointed with this one.

This was a great spot to take a relaxing vacation. The cabin is nice. It has two bedrooms on the main floor, one with its own bathroom. The kitchen/ living room area is on the lake side of the house with nice glimpses of the lake through the trees. There is a large wrap around deck with a good gas grill, two outdoor tables and plenty of chairs. Since we had perfect weather all the time we were there, the deck was a perfect spot to be.
Downstairs, about half of the basement is finished into one large room with windows and a door that opens to the lake side. There are 4 single beds and a second refrigerator in this area.
For a cabin, the place is great. It is well maintained, quiet, comfortable and it much nicer than most resort cabins we have stayed at. Nicer by a lot.
At the lake, there is a sun dock and a boat dock. I was able to launch my 14’ fishing boat at a nearby ramp and tie it up at the dock From Six Mile Lake you can get to an adjoining lake, and if your boat is small like mine, you could power it through a large culvert and pull it across some shallows to yet another lake. (Search on the internet for “chain o lakes” in Michigan.) We saw a lot of ducks, herons, some geese, deer, and what I think was a muskrat as we cruised the waterway. Fishing wasn’t very good for larger fish, but if you want to keep some kids happy you can catch small pan fish all day long. I also caught bass, northern and crappie – all kind of small. At the boat ramp, I talked to local fishermen who were coming to the lake to fish, so there must be at least a few good fish. The lake was very quiet on week days and even for the Labor Day weekend, the boat traffic was not too bad.
The nearby towns of Charlevoix, Petoskey and Boyne City all are an easy drive and all have fun things to do, places to eat and nice shops.
The owners were great to deal with and we are thinking about making reservations for next year.
