Located in a large lush lawned ground, this very plenty of light stone cottage, with its large bay-windows opened out into the garden, offers complete peace and tranquillity. No neighbours, except one cat, and four goats! The cottage and its garden faces the forest of Grimboscq. A great place for resting, walking (GR 36), jogging-biking, and the river Orne runs along the property (private fishing along 800 metres is available with a fishing licence, canoeing). The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable.

The cottage is located in a really interesting area, for many reasons. History: so close to the England’s one: William the conqueror, drama of the D-day landing beaches. Sea , at 22 Ml with the delightful seaside towns from Ouistreham to Courseulles and lovely fishing ports. Art: The most picturesque harbour in France, Honfleur, with Monet, Boudin and so many other impressionist painters, and also the birth place of the musician Erik Satie. Chic: of deauville with the Paris label shops and famous boardwalk , elegant casino, great golf, racecourses. CAEN, at 13Ml where you'll find shopping facilities museum like Memorial Museum, all sports: golf, tennis, swimming-pool riding and so on. Normandy's Switzerland at 6 Ml lovely unspoiled terrain with wooded hills, broad pastures, snaking rivers an airy ridges and a base of climbing, and paragliding. Gastronomy :you'll enjoy one of the most delicious cuisine of France.

The perfect home away from home

My husband, two young children and I just loved this home - it was the highlight of our European Trip. The photos and description of this property does NOT give it justice. This home is amazing -a breathtaking setting. It is so peaceful and calm yet only ten minutes drive to Caen and a five minute drive to the local village. The house and amenities are be on words. Claire (the owner) went out of her way to make us feel at home. Everything you need is there to live a week in Heaven - Claire has made a folder of information and put all the manuals in there - everything is there for you to use. Claire even stocked the fridge with Milk, softdrinks, Organe juice, and a few beers.

This property is very clean and well-maintained. The beds are very comfortable - the mainbedroom is huge, I loved the walk in bathroom with its huge bath tub - after a big day sightseeing I looked forward to my relaxing bath...

Claire has done an amazing job decorating her home. It is obvious she takes great pride in her home. It is very stylish but homely.

There is so much to do around this area - it is great for a family holiday. We spent nine nights here and it wasn't enough. I thought we would spend a week relaxing but there just wasn't enough time!!!. Mont staint Michael, St Malo, Dinard are only an hour and abit away. Honfluer is just over an hour and it just goregous. Caen is great - has a great market on sunday. The food around the area is fantastic. You can even go up to the local milk farmer and buy fresh milk from them.

If you stay in this property you will love every minute.
I would highly recommend it. Infact, We plan on returning soon. Thank you Claire for our wonderful holiday in your home.

Incredible setting

The setting of this cottage is stunning and the peace and calm are unparalleled. I would recommend this cottage for families, as long as the children are old enough to be smart about the river. It is not laid out for people with disabilities however. The location is convenient to major tourist sights and grocery shopping, but a car is an absolute requirement. The amenities were excellent with the sole exception being that there are no ensuite WCs. There is one WC upstairs which is shared by all bedrooms, and one downstairs. Otherwise this is a great house to rent; comfortable, well located and peaceful. I would rent it again.

Idyllic Cottage

Wir haben Anfang Juli 2009 sehr schöne 2 Wochen Urlaub in dem Haus erlebt. Es liegt absolut ruhig und sehr idyllisch an der Orne. Das sehr schöne, helle Haus und der große, sehr gepflegte Garten bieten alles, was man sich wünscht. Die im Internet eingestellten Bilder entsprachen absolut der Realität. Die Aufteilung der Räume ist gelungen, die Ausstattung ist geschmackvoll und lässt nichts vermissen.

Das Grundstück lädt mit großen Rasenflächen, alten Bäumen und schönen Blumen und Sträuchern zur Erholung ein und bietet viele sonnige und schattige Plätze. Der tägliche Bedarf kann im Umkreis von 6 km gut und problemlos gedeckt werden – wenn man leichte Hügel nicht scheut auch per Fahrrad. Wanderwege gibt es im Umfeld, Caen und Bayeux sind mit dem Wagen – aber auch mit dem Rad – gut zu erreichen.

We spent very nice holidays in the house for two weeks in early July 2009. It’s an absolutely calm area and a very idyllic place at the Orne. The beautiful, bright villa and a vast, well cared garden offer all you wish. The pictures published on the website show a very realistic portrait. The rooms are comfortable, the furniture and decoration tasteful, the equipment in best order, we missed nothing.

The property invites with its big green garden, old trees and beautiful flowers and plants to stay and offers a lot of sunny and also shady places. You find all you need for daily food etc. without any problems in a small distance (3 – 4 miles), you can do them by bicycle if you aren’t afraid off small hills. Pleasant walking paths are nearby; Caen and Bayeux with its famous tapestry of William the Conqueror are in a short distance by car – or even by bicycle.
