Ghiradelli Square is in walking distance and is about 1 mile away but don't quote me on that! It's all downhill anyway so it’s a pleasant walk. That is where Fisherman's Wharf is and the Alcatraz Tour boat departs.
Union Square is either a $8 cab ride or about a 50 minute walk. You would walk from Pacific and Octavia to Van Ness. Turn right on Van Ness and walk about 20 blocks to Geary. Turn left on Geary and walk all the way down to Union Square (you'll see a big square park and can't miss it) where you will find Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Saks, Tiffany, Hermes, Chanel, the theatre district, numerous art galleries, cable car turn around, among others. If you want, you can walk to Van Ness and California and take the cable car to Powell
Street and then walk down the hill heading North and you will be at Union Square as well!
There are so many things to do and see around here. Golden Gate Park, Stern Grove, SF Museum of
Modern Art, the new and exciting de Young Museum and the Palace of Fine Arts, just so many things.
